Default XJT Health Benefits Question

Hey, all! I just got picked up by ExpressJet on 12/6 (I'm ecstatic) and have a question about the health benefits. The pre-interview briefing was in one ear and out the other.

Does the 90 day waiting period to obtain health insurance begin on the day of hire (12/6), the day my class starts (12/18), or when I actually become an honest-to-god airline pilot (sometime in February)?

Thanks, everybody!

Default Additionally...

Additionally, since I'm a new hire, I'm a little cautious about calling up and asking a ton of questions of the HR dept. Any XJTers out there have any advice regarding this? I have a bunch of phone numbers, and don't know who to call, either.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I was also hired on 12/6 and just wanted to say congrats!! I'm sure I know you from the interview room, hope to see you soon!

I've had some questions as well, but from what i hear all will be explained when we get there....

Um...that's usually put out in Indoc. Of course, you could have asked during your interview.....

The 90 days will start at on your date-of-hire - which is the 1st day of class, not the day you got hired. I interviewed and was hired in July '99 but was put into a pool and my DOH is Feb '00.

For you new XJT boobs, on Day 1 you go sit in the big room with all the new employees (good time to scope FAs or rampers, if thats your thing) and get the whole company orientation. You will be force fed info on sexual harassment, company policies, training program, travel benefits, health benefits, etc etc etc. If you're lucky you might even get Jim Ream's song and dance. There is lots of time for Q&A (and there will be a lot of Q's when you get 80 or hundred new employees in there). So just relax, keep your eyes and ears open, take notes and ask questions if you have them. You guys are clamoring for info now but I bet you change your tune when the fire hose is turned on

Sadly, I was too busy pooping my pants at the interview to ask meaningful questions, despite the fact that I prepared a list beforehand.

Interviewer: Do you have any questions?

Me: Duhhhhh. **fart**

Wow, when I went through 2 years ago we sat in the big room by ourselves. There were no FA's to checkout.

Back to the question, on day 1, you will get everything and more answered.
