The min for VFR captain for them is 750 hours. And yes pacfic wings and Georgia skies are the same. You have to have part 135 mins to be a captain for georgia skies.

Hi there guys. I happen to work out here in Hawaii side by side the Pacific Wings guys and here's the scoop. They loose Captains well before their 90 day probabtionary period is up reasons.... Well the aircraft are poorly maintained, the schedule sucks and the upper management is a big head scratcher.
Oh and the pay for VFR Capt is 29k and IFR capt I think is around 31k which in Hawaii where milk is 6.00 a gallon is peanuts.
They actually just fired a friend of mine because he refused to fly an aircraft that was near max gross weight into a field that is 1700ft with no working flaps. They take away the captains right to make the go/no go decision. But, hey they hire VFR Captains with 500tt so what do you expect. If you want to know more just ask me.

Pacific Wings would definitely not be in my top choices but if I got furloughed and got desperate, I'd consider it just to be home.

I'm already contemplating sending my stuff to Pac Wings and Mokulele just to keep flying until things turn around at the regional level.

You're dreaming if you think there is stability at these two carriers. Visitor arrivals to Hawaii are dropping and Mokulele is tied to Mesa which is losing market share.

I disagree if you think Pac Wings is seriously unstable. I already know Mokulele has all of their eggs in one basket. If go! leaves Hawaii, they're on their own. I never understood why Mokulele did this. Pac Wings is a more established carrier than Mokulele at doing what they do. And they serve certain markets that have little to no competition. It's a similar situation to Island Air. Certain markets are not as dependent on tourist numbers (i.e. MKK), so I don't consider that a "make-or-break" issue. Plus, LW has the EAS deal in New Mexico to help keep them running.

Some of the posts are correct. If Mesa/Go leaves Mokulele is on its own. However; if you do choose either one both have a STRICT contract. If you break it you better be ready to write out a check.
The thing with flying in Hawaii is that these two carriers do depend on tourists. Go! is the feeder carrier to Mokulele if they pull out where will Mokulele gets its pax? I suppose they can survive a little while being that they also operate air tours.
Either way, if you get desperate go to ameriflight and build some multi time why fly sinlge engine turbine if you already have time in bigger things. I used to fly C208 but have since moved on. The time isnt that great on a resume, I've learned multi time is little more respectable. Just my .02
