Single room during training with wi-fi, king size bed, and the hotel will drive you to class int the am. Restaurant in the hotel is tooooo expensive but a 5 minute walk will get you to Mainstrasse which has a bunch of restaurants and about 25 bars. Not too shabby I must say. Hotel is right off of exit 192 north bound on 71/75 just before you hit Ohio. Big tall round building RIGHT off the exit.

Sounds like you can get by ok without having a car there.

I would highly suggest a car. you will be here for two+ months. And you will have enough to keep you busy without having to worry about trying to find a ride to get stuff you need just to get by. Just my 2C's

How does it work with days off? Do they give your travel passes to fly home for a few days, or is it a 7 day a week thing until your done?

Don't quote me, but I believe that once you are in training, you are considered an employee and can jumpseat or non-rev as you like. Of course, that is all space available so If you can't get back for your monday morning class then you just quit.

Since it probably wouldn't be a good idea to come home during training and risk not being able to get back... when do family flight benefits kick in.. so the wife could visit on a weekend? After the check-ride?

Not sure. It used to be that you needed a blue delta pass card to non-rev and that took about 30 days to get issued. But now delta has announced that you no longer need that card, just your PPR number. (employee number and a 2 digit number after it). I would ask your instructor on your first day at groundschool.

Until you are qualified in the aircraft I don't think you are allowed to jumpseat. As far as non-reving, it takes 30 days to process your info. You can ask for a pass to go home during those 30 days, but be careful. If you don't make it back to class on monday you might as well stay home.

Bring a car, life will be easier.

Pass riding kicks in after 31 days for you and your spouse or significant other and mom and dad or stepmom and dad but not all four at the same time. Inlaws are S.O.L. You can NOT jumpseat until you are line qualified in the aircraft period!. If you do you will probably get fired. They do not give passes out for weekend travel, but they did over the holiday during thanksgiving. They will probably do it again during Christmas. Hint: don't get stuck and not be able to get back for training. In other words don't pass ride home over the holiday.

No such thing as a delta blue card anymore.

They do give your spouse or one family member a pass to visit you for family orientation week which is one week after you start.

When you come here for training you need to have your mind set on studying. It is like drinking from a firehose. Don't think about going home for awhile, but think of it like you just joined basic training. They don't treat us like that so don't get me wrong but you need to think like it if you want to succeed.

They did for me last year. Things may have changed.
