Without jinxing myself, C5 upgrade is under 2 years. Granted it's turbo prop time, but seeing as how our leases and CPA's were just renewed for the next 5 years, I think I'll stay where I'm at.

All of you whiners are killing me, no matter who who work for. Sorry to break the the truth to all of you APC Regional trollers. "My airline is the best...", "this regional is the bane of the industry because..." If you fly for ANY REGIONAL, YOU ARE AT THE BOTTOM, JUST ABOVE THE CFII AND CHECK HAULER (Disclaimer: I too, fly for a regional). That goes for the Skywest guys, Compass, Republic, XJet, Mesa, Pinnacle...

If you haven't flown anything beyond your regional career, your opinion is limited, and keep it to yourself, and quit trying to make yourself sound superior, because despite what your mommy told you, you are just the same as the next guy, but maybe making a dollar or two more here and there. Whatever. Out of everyone's control, regardless.

I'm speaking on my behalf; I'm tired of children in the regionals trying to be bullies in their little regional playground even though we all weigh 80 lbs. You're all in the same elementary school, and will progress at the same rate to the next grade, despite how much you try to step on the spine of others.

I look forward to those of you who try to defend your companies and previous responses. I love the entertainment. Just fly your plane and be glad you are employed and get to pay higher taxes this year thanks to the 53% who feel they deserve your money. ;-) (bring it...)

Speaking of whiners....

I wouldn't put check haulers in the same category. Those folks had to have at least 1200 hours to get their job, and they make more than your garden variety regional FO.

Please explain - quite interested...

Your edit regarding the check haulers potential income is no argument, since having done that, I did not earn more than a regional FO. How is my statement "whining"?

Explain what? That a Caravan driver makes more than a regional FO? Take a look at the Mountain Air payscales.

"If you fly for ANY REGIONAL, YOU ARE AT THE BOTTOM.... (Disclaimer: I too, fly for a regional)"

It seems you devalue yourself. Whether one flies 100 miles, 1000 miles, or 10,000 miles per leg, we still have the lives of many people in our hands.

Hauling 30 people around, I have no expectation of earning the same as someone hauling 300. But I do have a skill set that is worth more than what a typical regional FO is paid.

"Your edit regarding the check haulers potential income is no argument, since having done that, I did not earn more than a regional FO. How is my statement "whining"? "

Then I guess you worked for the wrong check hauler or didn't demand a reasonable salary.

(sorry for the drift, back to the subject at hand)

While the OP's calculations are quite rough, he does provide a plausible future. Should we go into another recession or have some nuts blow up a couple buildings, hiring everywhere could stop.

Also, one should choose a company that, should stagnation occur, one can at least tolerate his situation.

Just did - are you on crack? It is close in pay, but single-engine. Good for you! You are a professional single-engine pilot. Now, when you can, you may catch up with everyone else who has been making the same money flying jets and upgrading, and finally fly multi-engine. Here's an additional cookie to make you feel even better...

Regardless, flying this crap isn't the point of my original post. I don't care about Mountain Air Cargo. You know why? They aren't on here complaining and thinking they are the best out there, even though the playground is level. Get back on topic. Muchas gracias.

(By the way - good friends of mine have flown for MAC, and had good times - nothing at all against that company, just not my choice, AS WITH WHERE MOST PEOPLE ARE, YEAH?)

FlyJsh, you cannot tell me where you are is the best place, or that my place is the worst. Are you happy with where you are? Yes? Good! Leave it at that! No? Sorry... Leave it at that. There are too many people searching for work and fly where they can to be condescending toward each other simply because of stupid bias. The chips fell where they did for everyone out there for a reason. Don't fault them for it. (And I don't even know why I said that last part when the guilty can't fault the guilty).

RAH upgrade times are not going to go that high...I guarantee it. And I'll tell you why. Guys like me, senior FOs here who, despite finally being in the double or single digits away from upgrade, have had enough, and are trying to get out of the industry completely or go to foreign carriers. That, and I know that the vast majority of capts here (those not in the 10+ year club) will leave at the first opportunity.

Hah. All the YX CAs are lifers. Except maybe the bottom 15% who are mostly on reserve.
