Hey look, I admitted earlier that I know the weakness of the GAMA stats is how they actually break down. For all anyone here knows, it's 97% Turkmenistan nationals who hopped the first 747 back to the region to live happily after getting their ATPs here. I am not sure you can be happy living in the middle east, or the numbers involved, but then again I do not know who those do represent, but you catch my drift.

I'm not going too far out on a limb with the opinion that 95% of all pilots who meet the mins and have 121 time could get a regional gig by the end of the month. I set up an Airline Apps account and my phone and email account lit up the next day. What other career would that happen? Maybe a nurse or a software developer? Why? Because there are shortages of workers in those fields just like in the pilot world.

Ok, so how many regional interviews have you attended during the last 12 months? And how many of those in your various interview groups went home as opposed to getting a job? I'll take your word for it, but do tell. My phone lights up with no problem getting interviews.

Dude, your getting smoked in this conversation. Are you calling BS on current events? You could be wrong.

Really? I feel far more smoked by all this hype about a pilot shortage that does not exist. Same question to you, how many interviews have you attended during the last 12 months? Peer pressure does not move me much, but facts do. Impress me. I do not go by dude by the way, you are thinking of someone else hopefully.

You're not convinced. Hey, that's cool. Believe what you wish. I (and many others) see it differently. We'll see in 12-18 months how things are shaping up at the regional level. I for one am confident of a lot of screaming and flailing about in the regional airline management cesspool in the near future.

Umm, let's hope you're really not one of those playing beach blanket bingo there then.

I know what I am worth, I don't know anyone willing to pay it.

From my perspective flying a jet sure seems a lot better than flight instructing... It all pays about the same; poorly!

I hadn't updated airline apps since Oct. last year. Eagle called out of nowhere to inquire about my check ride busts and see if i was interested in interviewing. They made an exception to policy for an interview when in 2011 they said no to me at a job fair. I'm not going to say they are totally desperate but I didn't expect it. Everyone I spoke with there was very nice and helpful seems like a good company from my limited experience.

This 200 friggin' %

It costs anywhere from $200 to $250 to rent a C172SP or C172 RG with instructor-fees per hour at the local FBO. Even a C152 costs roughly $100 per hour to rent. How the heck is anyone supposed to justify costs like that for a stressful job making $20k-$30 with no upgrade in sight? And that is AFTER instructing for several years. Things are spiraling out of control in regards to the costs of training....
