Because if AMR can flow pilots at more than the minimal required they could save some coin by lowering our longevity. Also in a few months we will have the new rest rules. With all airlines except SWA to likely be hiring in the next 12 months we are likely to see an increase in attrition. And It is accurate, If you look at the seniority list we have on average 50 or so FO more per base than we do CA.

Assuming AA keeps hiring, the next 150~ will come straight from AE (assuming they all take it). That means in the next three months AE could go from "overstaffed" to "right staffed" and if AA CONTINUES to hire, we could potentially be understaffed soon. Plenty of flying and even maybe some movement. Stand by...

But remember that you will ride this puppy to the ground.
How old are you RJ? How much do you plan on flying at Eagle

Currently most of the time that's open after bids close is being given to the FO who don't have 1500 hrs. I don't think it matters what regional you are at in 2014 the staffing will be so tight that everyone will be flying a lot, RJ will be doing it for much less money, but will be flying a lot.

Because I hear PBS is a sure thing!

Yup senior guys will get what they want while the junior guys get left overs. You will get the schedule that you want as long as AMR approves the pairing. That's the kicker, what pairing will AMR use when the new rest rules kick in?

I got hired near the end of a hiring spree in that when they stopped hiring for BK, I had about 250 people underneath me (people hired a year prior have 400+). However, it was not a terrible place to be in my base/equipment. Ive been near the top of the reserve list and occasionally people at my seniority number have gotten lines. I generally bid reserve because I can get weekends off and actually am home much more on reserve than I would be with a 4 day trip line.
I never break guarantee and as such, proffer daily accordingly - generally I go for RAPs (call periods) and if played right, I can stay home working my second job. Past few months haven't been great for that but this month is shaping up a bit better. My opinion is I am not going to break 75 hours, so what is the difference if I work 15 hours or 74 hours- I'll get paid the same. 1st year pay, the perdiem helped a bit so flying more gave me bigger checks. Now my wife and I just budget based on 75 hours*yearly rate and thats what I can expect. Any perdiem or EX/JM pay is gravy.
My buddies were hired with me at scattered through MIA and DFW. MIA is around mid level reserve and DFW is near the bottom 1/4. ORD and LGA/JFK are the junior bases (ERJ). Incidentally, I had a friend who was one of the most junior CRJ FOs in ORD. As of the last displacement (back in 2012) he was actually getting displaced out of CRJ. With this most recent one (The one that just closed) that had 20 ORD CRJ FO displacements, he actually got re-awarded CRJ.

As usual, QOL depends on what you value as far as QOL. Some prefer the mighty dollar - QOL is how much OT you can pick up and how you can work the system to get more "Soft" money. Some want schedules - no early shows or late into the night flying. My biggest determining factor for QOL is how often I can be home which is predicated primarily off of living in base.

Are all new hires expected to continue to be assigned NY? Are Dallas and Mia both overstaffed? How long are they being sent home for after training?

And here at AMR we have a mess of our own also with regards to regionals. What a cluster!!!
And Eagle remains to see airplanes go bye bye with a promise of new ones from the management that will be replaced next quarter.
