Eagle to hire 600+ in 2013!

Yeah, being senior on reserve can work in your favor. Especially if you live in base. I know most people here in DFW hired between early 2011 and summer of 2011 are composite line holders and are only on actual reserve two or three days per month.

How is the cost of living around DFW? How about MIA? Rent for two bed on average?
Thanks
Thanks

Very hot and humid in the Spring, summer, and fall but cost of living in general is low.
Not sure about Miami but I find Florida in general to be more expensive than Texas.

DFW is the cheapest of all our bases.
DFW- $700-1300 can get you something real nice.. and DFW is the cheapest to buy. You get the most house for your money here, you can have a nice house with a mortgage payment in those apt rental ranges.. but it's DFW lol
MIA- $1000-1750 for a decent place..
ORD- $1200-2200 in the city, close to the trains in a (good, desirable, fun area). Close to the airport or crappy areas might be cheaper, but it sucks.
NY- If you have to ask, you can't even think about affording it. New hire FO probably can't afford a 2 bed in the city reasonably close to work in a safe area. Not without roommates or a working spouse anyway. You will either live in a total dump crack house, a crashpad, have roomates, or commute in. (on new hire pay). Hell, even CA pay won't get you much.. you will still spend a huge chunk of your income on rent for any decent area. Maybe there is cheaper areas if you are willing to drive a ways from outside the city, I don't know..never did it, I assume there is, but then you will blow all your savings on expensive toll roads and gas. lol.
Obviously there is cheaper, or more expensive in all bases depending on what is acceptable to you.. but for something clean, updated interior, not too far, and in a desirable area.. you should be able to get something in those ranges.
Neither MIA or DFW has state income tax so you will save quite a bit of money with that over ORD/NY (if you're a renter).

So this is from the career page;
All new-hires guaranteed an interview at AA mainline. Pilots must complete at least 2,000 hours flight time with Eagle before they may interview. Interviews to begin once flowthrough Eagle pilots have had the opportunity to move to AA.
When will all of the flowthrough Eagle pilots move up to AA? I'm guessing you could hit 2,000 hours within 3 years. Will there still be flow ups around by then?

So its not really worth considering when trying to decide where to go.
The $10,000 sign on bonus rumor got my attention, but turned out to be just that, a rumor.
Good thing the minature schnauzer killed that thread!

It's actually not... Our union rep told me that the 10k bonus is real and that's what the union reps emailed between each other. Expect news soon
