Believe it or not, I know a lot who are bailing for republic - especially first year FOs. They have no real commitment here and with our flying going out all over the place but here, no fleet plan, and all the other bad news posted above with no good news, Republic sounds like a pretty sweet deal: They are getting more and more flying, FOs might be getting a pay raise, and they get to fly that EVER so sexay -175!

I read a post somewhere on this forum about possible strike at Republic. New FO would have to strike with Others and get fired(during probation of 1 yr) or not strike and labeled scab. Is this just a rumor? I'm genuinely curious.

Thanks

Hasn't this trike been right around the corner for a few years now?

Everything is this job is always "right around the corner".. strike, pay raises, pay cuts, furlough, pilot shortage, new airplanes, flow through, parking airplanes, FTDT...

I guess that makes sense. If the senior captains have the golden handcuffs and don't want to move on, there is going to be little in the way of upgrades.

Maybe this is a new trend. Instead of the majors upping year one pay to attract regional captains, they just say to hell with it and hire high time F.O.'s.

I never figured out why in the world a regional airline would have an 18 year payscale.

The NMB will never release republic to strike - I would not be worried in the slightest. Plus you have a year to complete probation. A friend of mine got hired at republic a year ago and was stressing out that they would strike during his first year. He finishes probation end of the month.

People on the top half are leaving.. it's just not in big numbers like the junior half (yet).. Mainly I am referring to people in the top 500 that are pretty entrenched here. A number of our potential flowthroughs with #'s that I know were previously a firm NO, some have changed to YES now.. after our bankruptcy contract and other issues, that was the little push they needed. The 824 flows will ALL go if it ever gets to them at a rate of 20/mo until they are all gone.. since those numbers pass on down to the next guy if someone passes.. there will be movement of CA's. (hopefully). Should start the 824 this year.. unless something bad happens again.

This is what I am seeing.. many places don't disqualify for no TPIC time anymore. Put in 3-4 years as a regional FO and you have the quals to move on.

Please don't start the Mcdonalds / Home Depot arguement. Even year 1 F.O's earn more than year 1 fast food restaurant workers,...
Don't be so certain about that. Many would beg to differ strongly.

Wow, very weird and cool.
Just got an email to call Pilot Recruitment to set up an interview. I'll call them tomorrow, guess these things just take time.
