Eagle to hire 600+ in 2013!
#362
Only a handful in each class - maybe 5-10 max. Havent heard about them recently. Confirmed word is that they are having difficulty filling classes. I wonder why.

Is there any word as to how many classes are running at once, and how many people there are per class? I'm not sure I understand how the math of what's been said here adds up to 600. Perhaps they are going to create a pool of 600 in 2013?
They want all the flowthru and the top of our list to move to AA because will save them money.
Someone asked about medical insurance. I can't complain about it, I have the most expensive (around $128 a month). We have medication included. Dental and vision is a couple of dollars a month to have them too.
I haven't used it that much, but it saved me around $85 one time I had to get some antibiotics.

Union says it's because the amount of qualified pilots out there is scarce. It's not; it's just that most people are willing to take the paycut for the regionals. Other factors for classes being so small is the fact we're still in bankruptcy, we still don't have a fleet plan, we're parking planes with no replacements announced thus far, some of our flying is being outsourced (see LAX, some DFW, and some ORD), new flying going to other regionals, and our future is down right sketchy. Plus, they've been talking about divesting us for a while now and who knows where we would be left standing in the event of a merger.

eagle by march 2013 will have parked 39 ATR's and by the end of 2013 will have parked 23 e135's and 4 e140's. That is 66 aircraft at 9.5 per that gives by end of 2013 627 extra pilots. they say attrition ( i dont believe) is 20 per month plus about 240 flowthroughs by end of year to AA. That is 480 pilots from the extra 627 leaves 147 extra pilots at end of 2013 with no hiring. Flying that AE did is being contracted out to others. AE fleet plan will not be greater than 225 aircraft by end of 2014, that requires 2138 pilots, there are 3200 on the seniority list.
Also the union has come out and stated basically the divestiture was never to happen. But the union went around like the chicken with its head cut off pushing divestiture but it was never really going to happen just negotiation ploy.
Without the AA/US merge, AA can contract out 352 aircraft for feed. 225 for eagle, so AA will be contracting out 127 aircraft for feed. Currently, CHQ, Republic, SKW and EJT account for 103 of the 127. Leaves an additional 24 aircraft to be contracted out. If US/AA do merge the feed aircraft number goes up about another 100 for a total 450 aircraft for feed.
For now SKW/EJT contract is for four years, CHQ contract was ending in March (about) and was extended for 18 months and RAH got a nice 12 year contract.

it is your scope. we have not furloughed yet, but if and when we do, the scope kicks in to where our pilots must be transfered to the new carrier doing the flying ae was doing. So in essence we are hiring to supply the other feeders with pilots when we furlough. So AA is making sure it will have pilots either for AE or for its other feeders. And our union knows this, just like the divestiture was phony which they new.
