2000 PIC Turbine in what kind of aircraft and operation is the real question. There are thousands of pilots out there with Part 121 Jet PIC who currently fly for Regional airlines who this person will be competing with. If the goal is to get on with a Major, then I'd say yes, this person needs to find work with a Regional and start building the jet time in a 121 operation - all the while, of course, applying to every Major airline out there.
Thanks all. Its TPIC in a Piaggio Avanti, twin turboprop. I am currently flying and being paid so it would be a tough change. Its Part 135/91K Fractional flying. I have about three years 121 experience at the regionals. About 1000 on Dash-8s, and 100 on the CRJ. I guess my thought is that if there is anywhere lacking in my resume it is the jet experience. Not sure how much of a player that is given the rest, and the pay and QOL change would be tough to swallow.

Appreciate the opinions. Oh, and Eagle is in the running as I could drive to a New York domicile in about three hours. Not much worse than my current drive to work, it would just be more often. I think it is an unlikely move for financial reasons but just exploring options.

Is the Avanti commuter or transport category? I am assuming this is Avantair?

Its actually a Part 23 aircraft, I believe that would actually be normal category. Two crew environment. Yes Avantair.

Tough call, unless you know someone who has REALLY good pull at a Major.

Part 25 Jet time these days is a definite plus on a Major Airline application.

I don't think you would have a problem getting on with the majors, if they were hiring. Sounds like your situation is very simialr to mine and lots of other guys on here. Loose a stripe, loose a big chunk of pay and shift your butt over to the right seat for a while.
You need to find a place to hang out and stay current for a year or two until things start picking up and the 65 year olds hang up their headsets.
I would keep my finger on the trigger at these regionals and save as much money as you can until your current employer closes its doors.
I don't think Eagle would be a bad move either. Still jet time.

I heard the next one is 10 also. Heard the classes will get bigger once they have more instructors trained. They are doing it now.

Called back shortly after. I am seriously pulling for them, but I've been down this road too many times. Four furlough letters in my collection now. Fortunately two cancelled, and Avantair was brief and called back most of us. I hope they pull it off, but I am looking for plan B at this point and it looks like the majors may not be there just yet.

Thanks for the input guys.
