Sure did not, AMR hired over 600 in 2011 and in early 2012 it cancelled a class of 20 and furlough 50. This was seen as a political furlough to put pressure on the pilots. Six to eight months later all 70 pilots were recalled and hiring commenced. Eagle hired over 800 in two years before the BK, furlough 70 for 6 months and started hiring again. Why are we hiring since we SKW and XJT are coming on property, I don't know all I can go with is what the Company and Union say.

Eagle is a brand not an airline anymore (just like any other regional)

Eagle could be spun off but that has actually gotten quit for the last few months

Eagle will re-fleet, this was said by the Union and the Company as late as yesterday

Eagle will flow pilots to AA, even if the merger happens per the MOU AA will need pilots

Other regionals have stopped the hiring and are looking at possibly hiring in the 2nd quarter of this year

RAH is hiring and offering 5k just like Eagle but are unable to fully staff the Q400s and trying to keep up with the Ejet staffing.

Eagle and AMR are working on ways to facilitate flow to AA and to increase the recruiting tools for AE (we have no details on this) but they say they are looking to help the senior guys go and get new guys to come here but again no details

Eagle will park 30 airplanes in 2013 to include all E135s and ATRs as well as close San Juan as a base

The Current contract that Eagle that provides AMR with predictable and adjustable cost to the rest of the industry but the main sticking points is that the contract is filled with company incentives and cost reductions in the event of a re-fleeting

There is much going on, but at Eagle not all is bad. Just like every other regional we have our ups and downs but it seems like we took our BK beating and things are about to start moving, there will be a good amount of upgrades happening as soon as we start flowing people to AA, currently AMR is waiting till the last possible moment to start those upgrades and will release a new vacancy bid in 2 weeks.

Ryanair is a TERRIBLE employer. They provide ZERO sick pay. If you don't fly, you don't get paid. This is simply the tip of the iceberg. I want nothing that Ryanair has to be brought to the USA.

Check this out.

I will take your point about the thread drift though. Back to Eagle, if you quit within 2 years you simply refund the $5,000, pro rated or the whole thing?
Sounds like less of a risk than $5,000 for a $20,000 early buy out that Republic is offering.
Take a look at the video link I posted. The piece is almost 1 hour long, but it's an eye opener. Once you watch it, you'll understand why Ryanair makes money. It's because they treat their employees like garbage.

O.K. Guys. Enough with the Ryanair thing. I simply pointed out that they have a single tier pay scale, as does XO Jet. I couldn't care less about the rest of it. Charging pilots for water, no sick time, charging for toilet paper etc! I just like the idea of keeping a level playing field when it comes to salary.

Lets put it to bed now before embraer comes on here and tells us off for not mentioning American Eagle in the post!

I've been saying that for a long time now.

At least we agree on something.

lets not forget pay for toilet w/c. he charges his employees for the use of the electricity they use to charge the computers and cell phones on company property. I am surprised he does not charge the employees for taking a shi+ in a bathroom on company property.

I really hate to aid in the derailing of this thread (although can you derail a train wreck?), but found this interesting: Most pilots for Ryanair don't even work for them - they are hired as "freelance" pilots according to this article Guess which airline cuts costs by hiring freelance pilots? (No prizes) - Investigations

Next time someone calls regionals the bottom of the barrel, I will have to point them to things like this. Although reading the comments from people below in that article makes me even more angry...

Lol. If that were the case, I would just deuce directly into a sack and leave it on the floor.
