If you are only 30 how are you so doom and gloom already? You have 35 years left to fly if you want to. You'll be at a major within 10 years at the latest. Still leaving you 25 years. Buck up

You can't reason with this guy, don't even try. He's your ultimate Debbie downer.

Some of the most negative people I've flown with are 30-32yr old captains hired in mid 2000s who didn't get their 18 month upgrade and are still ****ed about it. Also the young captains who aren't jaded are some of the best, most optimistic people to fly with.

You and RJ should stop complaining. You got used to LAX base with small work schedules.

Sorry for your reality check, life is not fair. If you like so much other airlines California bases you should consider change companies.

Let me guess "I can't afford to move to other airline", guess what? Every FO make it work with their families. Even if you go to AA you will get a paycut.

If only people start living within their means they would be much happier.

At eagle you have to plan to live with 72hrs, everything else is extra income for savings.

Btw I jus get paid $37.9 and hour and I don't have to pick OT or extra flying for living, have a full mortgage, a wife that is not currently working and don't use government help. So be a man and do whatever you have to do for your family without crying like a baby.

Oh and yes, I commute.
Florida has horrible weather. 100% humidity? No thanks. I am perfectly able to support myself and my family as a FO but if I had to move and pay for another residence it would become extremely difficult, not to mention the time it would take to sell my current home.

I would love to fly for a real airline like UAL, DAL, or AA. Problem is they haven't called nor will they. No recs from higher ups, I'm a white male, no PIC time. I'm at Eagle for the next 15 years (if it lasts that long) and I'll do my best to keep potential new hires from making the same mistake I did.
Dude, you need to chill out!!! You still have all your career ahead of you.

Wait a couple of years an you'll see that someone will call. We can't compete with CAs that have been in the airlines for the last 13 years waiting for their shot.

Btw, Florida does not have 100% humidity. I guess you never flow in the real Caribbean where humidity comes up to 90%.

Every regional is in bad state right now, except all the low bidders.

I'm from SoCal, and live here now, but I spent seven years living in Broward County, one county north of Dade county (Miami). Yes, it's hot and HUMID for sure (ever heard of Air Con?), but if one likes tropical weather, warm and clear water (87+ degrees), and scuba diving on one's days off, it's actually a pretty nice place to live. Besides, if one is an airline employee, one can bail back out to the west coast at will to get one's fix of a drier, more Mediterranean climate for a few days. My wife and I did this all the time.

In all honesty, I wonder why you don't chuck your few years at AE and start anew at Skywest. People do it. Yes, you'd take a small cut in pay, but it seems you'd be much, much happier in the long run. You'd be back on the west coast again.

To tell you the truth I'm working on a guard spot back in CA. Parley that into a GI Bill. Get a 2nd degree and leave the industry. That will take me to ~33 and that was my personal "mainline or get out" age. I'll be ok I just really don't want to see any poor young people get suckered into a dead end job in a dying career spending the majority of their lives at a garbage regional like would have happened to me.

So you're prior service? You of all people should know how to suit up and play the game. Nothing happened to you. You made a choice and now you have to deal with it. 30 years old and you're doing a lot of ****'n and moan'n about not being picked up by a major? Come on man. Crap or get off the pot!

Never said it was anyone's fault but my own. I'm working on remedying my mistake. I'm just going to counsel others on how not to make the same mistake I did. (Don't come here)
