I'm not exactly ready to pack up my aspirations because you are having a bad life. I DO appreciate the info you have provided, lots can be learned from relentless negativity. We simply disagree on where stuff is going.

If you care to speak intelligently about what bases are junior, the interview/hiring process, training, commuting or anything else THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL, please do. That would represent a change from the stream of gloom that is Bzzt/RJ (I, too, think you guys are one dude).

Otherwise, I release you to your daily regimen of doomsaying.

Yup. Miserable pair, they are. I'd hate to be their wives (or husbands?).

Pretty obvious who you work for now. Considering all the regionals are fighting for pilots, recruiters for another regional posting constant negative things about Eagle is a dirty little trick. No sane person would consciously try to destroy their own company and job.

So Bzzt & RJPilot, which airline are you recruiters for?

I wish I had a nice management job, I would love to be home every night. I don't think any other airline would really have to smear Eagle online to make sure no one comes here. We already can't get applicants, Eagle's lack of a fleet plan, future, QOL, and the industry's lack of career progression does a good enough job of scaring people away from this sinking ship.

Here I'll be "helpful":
Jr Bases: MIA, NY keep in mind we're shrinking so your relative seniority once hired will move tremendously slowly. With ~10 hired a month you probably will not be able to change bases for an extended period of time.

Interview: Don't lie on airlineapps and don't have a messed up logbook.

Training: One of the least forgiving in the regional industry. We still do actual check rides unlike most other US airlines. If you need extra time chances are you won't get it. Remember a 121 bust will severely hamper the already rare career progression you may desire.

Commuting: Can't do it. A lot of our trips are 7am shows with 9pm finishes. If you're ever able to get some seniority you may be able to hold a late start/late finish or early start/early finish and be able to commute either the front or back end of your trip. Depending on where you're commuting from your options may be severely limited.

Upgrade time: Currently 7-8 years. This is always subject to change but remember Eagle is shrinking. Your relative seniority will move very slowly if at all. We haven't had a vacancy bid in quite awhile even though CAs are flowing to AA and senior FOs have been going to Spirit, VA, and JB.

Conclusion: Unless you live in a base that only AE has I do not recommend anyone come here. If you want a reliable regional job with good QOL and contract I recommend Skywest. If you want to buy a lottery ticket and hope for that 1% mainline job go to Compass for the quick upgrade.

Also your all about eagle is shrinking but we're not in the near future. Didn't they announce all 140's and 145's will stay on property through at least 2014?

Through summer of 2014 you're correct. However all EMJs are still slated to be gone by 2017.

As far as commuting I am "able" to do it also. I take a red eye on the front end and I'm usually home by 8pm on the back end but I still lose an extra night at home. So you're correct, it's "possible" but not practical.

I'm also able to commute quite easily on reserve as well. I commute in on day 1 and out on my last day.

The issue with you is you thin most trips aren't commutable, but when you have a 4 hour commute, most trips won't be.
