Eagle to hire 600+ in 2013!
#1172
We've heard that they are being picky but apparently Eagle isn't the only one being picky, but have the reputation of being pickier. Also lack of applicants, mainly due to being in BK and that we don't have many large RJs.

We have 50 whom have accepted class at AA and yet to go to class, there are 31 left whom have a few more days to accept. Lets say that 25 take it that leaves us with 75 leaving before December

That makes it 275 guys leaving even with the metering over the next 12 months. AA sent out interview invites today for new hires, do you still think they are playing around?
275 AE guys leaving for AA in 12 months, couple that with all the other airlines who are hiring and Eagle could lose 400 captains in the next 12 months or so.
American said its plan call for hiring hire and training 40 to 50 pilots a month beginning this winter “through at least summer 2014.” Meaning they will hire through at least next Aug.
I don't know what else to tell you, apparently you day dream all this doom and gloom and can't look around. Flights are full and the mainlines are shifting flying back to them. The demand of air travel is picking up, the airlines are flying record load factors fast approaching 90%, there is a demand for pilots while the supply for the current amount of airframes at the regionals and majors exceed the supply of pilots and made worse by the retirement. Look at AA with the 319, Delta with the 717 and United soon to likely increase their NB fleet.
Where are the new hires coming from!?!?!?! That's a good question.

1,500/5=300
300/2=150
150 Eagle CAs will flow to AA assuming no flow. Can't get much more simple than that.
I find it interesting you're expecting mass hiring anywhere. A guy who just got the call to interview in the AA thread listed his quals. If you think you're getting in when you're competing against guys with C5 and 74 time I've got an island to sell you.

How many guys are out here with C5 time? How many guys out here with 747 time looking for a new job? Sure there are enough military pilots in the military willing to fly for the regionals to cover the 15000 retirements over the next 10 years. So riddle me this, back in the 80's and 90's when the military was much larger than today with regards to pilots how did all those civilians pilots make to to the majors! I am willing to be that if you tool all the mainline pilots combined there % is around 50 military at best.

God forbid you be thankful for anything. Keeping those "POS RJs" sounds like job security for that much longer. Why don't you just do yourself a favor and quit? I pity your wife.

OK - this means nothing. The Fleet Plan as far as our EMBs showed 70@145's and 50 or 55@140's till the end of 2016 and early 2017.
The ac that are going are the 145's
They can trade those in - as well as the 135's.
No one wants the bastard 140's so I cannot understand the exuberance over the announce or how our pilots missed the sequence of the fleet retirement

Didn't the Eaglewire mention that the 140s wouldn't begin to be retired til summer as opposed the end of the year BUT once they start going they'll go faster than intended? Pretty sure it mentioned those aircraft originally gone by 2015.
