Right, except HAL signed up a cargo outfit not a passenger airline, big difference. You usually get what you pay for.

Why start a new airline just to fly to these small cities? Why not hire island air to do the work. I wonder if this will cause an issue with Hawaiians scope.

Not well, not well at all. They are still trying to get it on their certificate. Going on 4 or 5 months of just sitting the ramp. Island Air was actually just sold. Still no official word on who bought it.

Jan. 18--Larry Ellison, the billionaire who bought 97 percent of the island of Lanai in June, is adding a small interisland airline to his Hawaii collection.

Ellison is finalizing a deal to buy Island Air, according to two sources familiar with the situation.
Not official per say.
