Colgan: The Real Deal
#22
Its kinda funny when people ***** and complain about bottomfeeder airlines, crappy management decisions, poor pay, etc and yet they themselves have lied through their teeth to "get their foot in the door".

Sabb, you talk about alot of stuff, and put others down, yet now it looks like you have "faked" some time. Nice. I hope someone knows who this clown is, and CHECKS and VERIFIES his logs before his intial ride tomorrow!
Back to the subject. I got hired on at Colgan back in '99. First 121 to offer me a job (Eagle did, then didn't...long story). So I went with the attitude that I go, work, build time get out.
Upgraded in 6 months, checkairman 6 months later, Saab type 12 months...
So in two years, I had two types, over 1000 PIC turbine, and checkairman experience. Got on with Spirit. (9-11 happened, so I got stuck here for a little.) Waiting on SWA decision, and then trying CAL.
Go and build time if it's the only one offering. IT IS better than instructing.
Other factors: commutin wasn't that easy, so I didn't. Days off wasn't a big thing. MORE TIME!
If you have to wait for upgrade, who cares. Get some 121 turbine experience, if you hate it there, get out after the contract, and re-apply to someone else. The same wait if you stay instructing, yet you are getting 121 time.

[QUOTE=BoilerUP;80792]What you are advocating is not illegal (as long as the 8710 isn't falsified), but it is most certainly unethical.QUOTE]
I know of a Boilermaker (no names) who whipped it to get a job at Express and ended up at UAL. Had one logbook for the interview and another for the Feds.

Im sure everyon has rubbed the numbers a little in the logbooks, but keeping 2 seperate logbooks? Thats just plain wrong. Too bad all the other people that applied the same time he did didn't find out who he or she was.

Go get out of instructing there are a lot of guys that have moved on to bigger and better things from Colgan. And not lateral move regionals. You won't rack multi turbine time up anywhere quicker that Colgan or Airmidwest. Its a prop but your "building time" right?

Saab I don't think it was a joke... You went on to defend your pencil whipping statement later in the thread. I've seen you put Mesa and GoJet guys down for sleeping at night with a job, and how unethical they are for what they've done to get their careers started.. Now here you are advocating pencil whipping hours to get a job... I can understand a .1 or .2 here and there for some taxi times (covered in the FARs), but telling someone to falsify 50 hrs of multi time to get a job is just wrong. How many backs are you stepping on to get ahead of the line when you do that?
On another note: This forum should be about the industry and professionalism... You seem to represent something other than that in many of your posts. I'm sure you're a good guy, but you seem to lower the bar when you lash out at other members calling them "idiots" and "losers". There are more tactful ways to get your point across. If we should end up flying together one day, I hope you show up to work with more than you demonstrate here....... Loser
