Best Regional to work for?

Regionals
Thanks guys, really looking to be competitive, current and qualified don't want to wait for the gold ring that may never be there. I have applied to the top tier companies but so has everyone else. Pilot shortage?? I guess you have to be in it to win it.

Thumbs up for this post. There hasn't been any movement in the past few years so basically where you go is where you may have to stay for some time. Especially if things stay depressed economically here in our country (highly likely) there will be no place to go. If you are still relatively young you may consider a different line of work... Corporate side flying is pretty fun, and keeps you at arms length with an industry that will suck the life out of you and leave you cold and alone.

I like it at Air Wisconsin, good work rules for a regional and its also the best paying regional. I'm still on reserve and i usually always break guarantee. But what other people were saying about where you live is most imporant. I mainly chose AWAC because i live just outside PHL. I dont want to under any circumstances be a commuter. If i were looking at regional s right now i think the only ones I'd really consider are Skywest/ASA/Xjet/AWAC. If you plan on moving AWAC is nice with the ORF base. you can get it out of training, have a line a month after your done training, and its not a very expensive place to live either. I cant really speak for the other regionals because i dont know much about them.

But to reenforce my points, and others. Talk to some of the more senior guys at AWAC. Especially the ones that lived in Denver, Chicago, or any of the others former domiciles that AWAC had. Also, ask them how much they made and the workrules they had. Not only under contract 2001, but the previous also.

Skywest or ASA seem to be the most stable.....at the moment. They have more cash than anyone else by far, the largest fleet, wh0re themselves out to the most main line carriers, etc. Management also seems to have a clue as to what they are doing as well.

Air Wisconsin....no, they used to be #1 but others would work cheaper.
Comair....no, they stood up for a good contract and now they don't exist.
Just don't work for one with a descent contract. The majors always look to outsource to the lowest bidder, so being the "best" means you won't be around for long.
I'd pick the one with the shortest upgrade time. Age 65 retirements will cause a HUGE amount of hiring soon and recent PIC turbine experience looks good on a resume.
