Their intent is to show that nobody is safe. I don't know how big a surprise that is though. I would imagine Delta would come after xjt either way. They are on a major saving spree.

The likelihood that ExpressJet or Skywest can continue at their current rates in the future is very slim (outside going independent). It's contract work. As long as there are lower bidders around Skywest is handcuffed and at a disadvantage. I'm pretty sure they're aware of this. If Pinnacle passes this TA it will be the new precedent Delta and other majors will use to measure all of their future awards. It gets more complicated as the regional pilot pool runs out but it's still a lose-lose for regional pilots. It seems there are a few vocal people that will kick and scream with the regional of their choice all the way to their graves but it's a bit like being a Cleveland Browns player. Sure, you're in the NFL, but you're never going to win the Super Bowl if you're playing for them no matter how many rumors you hear (start) about positive changes coming. Best thing that could happen is the regionals shrink, most of the lifers change their minds and move over to a major, and the regionals turn into the high attrition, small sized pilot pool for the majors they were in the past. That is as stable as it can get. It sucks for senior regional guys for sure. It's just the reality of the industry today. Blame 9/11, fuel, economy, whatever. It is what it is.

And this is my exact fear when I leave PNCL. Im less than 100 from the bottom so Im done either way. Interview with XJT is Jan 9th. It will be a huge case of deja vu if in 2 years Im doing it all over again with another regional. Meh!
