Although there are many rumors running, no one really knows why we're hiring so many and so quickly. Mgt has been completely mum about it and no one rumor has better legs than the other (some say MIA base, some say DFW expansion, some say more CR7/9s for DCI)
No rumors or numbers of coming upgrades but no one can imagine hiring hundreds of FOs with no upgrades.

EFBs Q1 next year is a rumor with VERY strong legs according to the training department. They will be iPads. Several software vendors still on the table, but the training department has played with all of them. Most likely a transition period where we carry both the EFB and chart cases. (a preference from the FAA, not our people)

Question for you all, I have an interview offer but I am not available until mid March to start training, if selected and offered a class date. Would it be too early to call and schedule a December interview? When would be a good time to interview with hopes of a March class date? Thanks in advance.

With the amount of people getting hired by waiting till march you will be screwing yourself big time with seniority.

Honestly, I think I would go ahead and interview and tell them up front about your availability. That way you are already in and in a pool or even scheduled for a class in case there is some huge influx of people interviewing and it stops. of course classes could stop too, but youre in that boat either way.

They've been saying that for years. In recurrent SH would look everyone in the eye and talk about how the iPads will be here in a few months... that was 5 years ago. Not saying you're wrong, just saying they love to talk EFB, it's like a huge never ended joke.
Not true.

I've been here 5 years. SH has NEVER come in and said they will be here in a few months. It was always a vague statement of how they are actively looking into iPads and will keep us updated.

Take the first interview date. They'll ask when you can start, and just tell them.

Hiring is for Miami, enough said.
The first IPad was released April 3, 2010, and had no EFB capability at that time. That was only 2 1/2 years ago. Never heard SH say they would be here soon.

Classes every 2 weeks after the first of the year and no end date for classes

Correct! There maybe more.

3.....some say MIA base...

Well lets say that MTC had spent some time down there working.
Hiring 300 FAs / 50 per month.

300 airframes at ASA by the end of 2015. Currently have approx 164.

Great, so much for hoping that they will raise the standards on FA hiring. With those numbers, they'll continue to hire every person walking in the door.

More RJs.... Great for the lifers!

Must not have had recurrent with me. I even remember the statement mentioning they were debating whether they should be hard wired or taken home by pilots. It went even further... nanny software followed by a joke of them being in the hands of pilots. Like I said, probably don't have recurrent with me.

It was a joke/statement that was putting an emphasis on how long they've been talking about iPad with nothing done. Clearly the iPad is only 2 years old... hence the joke.

They just go to bank head highway in Atlanta to do all the hiring, who cares if they actually speak English correctly or care about customer service.
