Seems risky an airline with a 90 year old ceo/founder flying 3 airplanes out of basically a GA airport with < 6000 ft runway.

Yeah, it certainly is, but todays hiring at an established carrier can quickly become tomorrow's furlough too. jetBlue was probably risky too when they started in an already saturated east coast market but they made it work, so why not these guys? The odds are against them but then again, maybe a slightly eccentric 90yr old billionaire founder is just the ticket to make the place work.

Yeah, my 20 minute drive to work was way better than the 3 hour drive after Skywest closed SAN!

You guys know there are other airlines out west? Skywest, Eagle, Horizon, what's stopping you from going there now instead of waiting for some start up with 3 planes?
We had 2 west coast bases a few years ago at Xjt. That was a good time. Starting over again at eagle or horizon just isn't going to happen, and definitely not at skywest since we are sort of the same company now.

Well apparently CPA has a gate kiosk at CRQ along with designated employee parking spots on airport property. All the signs of an airline are up with no people or planes.

Curious how you think it won't be 'just another regional'.........because in order to start up it's unlikely the pay will be anything but below industry standard, with sub standard work rules, etc.

Etflies, I believe your beliefs are slightly less than objective, you want this to succeed so you're trying to convince yourself why it will.... nothing wrong with hope, lord knows we've needed it these last 10 years, but don't detach yourself from reality. I attached below a helpful definition for you

Delusion: an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument

Another case of rich dudes that don't know what to do with their money. And having a 3 class cabin for a one hour flight makes a lot of sense, good luck.

People were saying the samething about Shuttle America 12 years ago... Look where they ended up. Just another regional run by a kook. I have to agree with another post, it will either never get off paper or will fail hard. That 3 class service on an hour flight is nuts.

Seems like a good business plan...in theory.

I've been amazed by how many pax are willing to pay $150 for an upgrade at the counter on a 30-minute flight from MSP-MSN. Seems nuts to me...but then again my cash reserves are pretty trim. 3 class makes sense, especially in the so-cal market, where most people have a little extra $$$

What will probably kill this project is operating E170's out of a 4,900' runway at a southern latitude. There's no way a 170 could get out of this place when it's 100F, no wind, full pax. Even if they used flaps 4, TO-1, No Flex, ECS REF OFF, its still VERY sketchy at best. Even if this were approved by the FAA, they would be weight restricted on most summer flights out of there. + Imagine all the overruns they would have on landing into CRQ, the 170 does have a tendency to float, esp when its light.

Tho, I wouldnt mind getting a west coast base again, would be niiiiiice
