Go to work for Pinnacle where the union just proposed this gem in negotiations: "reduction of domicile report time to 45 minutes". What a joke.

Truer words have never been spoken!

Oh, and don't forget to use your sexy voice when talking with the schedulers.

That is what it used to be, that is the time from sign in to push back not the time from phone call to sign in at the airport.
With the JCBA, the time was set at an hour as it had been with Mesaba. The problem with that was Mesaba could check in from any computer or even cell phone. Pinnacle had to use company computers designated for check in located only in the crew rooms. Whereas Mesaba could check in 1 hour prior from the parking lot, Pinnacle must be in the crew room. That is where there is the extra 15 minutes goes. Heck in DTW it usually takes even more time than that.

Well it was a captain I was talking about. + a bunch of x150, his record was 170 credit. I'm not lying. yes he worked like a dog.
He is like the rainman of scheduling, he tried to explain his method but my weaker knowledge did not prevail. That month somewhere around 17k

I understand that all new pilots begin as a "reserve," meaning that they are on-call and are "used" at the whim of crew scheduling.

Say a reserve pilot wants to work more (i.e. gain more hours and make more money). How can that be accomplished, or do reserves just have to wait until they're needed? Just wondering...
Not sure why you'd want to work more. As a reservist you'll be down to min days off. You should be prepared to make a living on whatever the minimum guarantee is at xyz airline. My recommendation instead is do the opposite. If the airline of your choice has an aggressive pick up window for reserves then pick up low time trips. Long overnights, guaranteed hotel, more time off duty, and you'll still get paid the 75 hours or whatever min guarantee is.

Work smarter, not harder!

Congratulations. However, I was not quoting or directing my comment to you, I was commenting to the OP about being a new hire rsv.
