PNCL Out of seniority Furloughs
#11
Quit making rumors, I am an Eagle DFW based ATR FO who was displaced, we have furlough 70 pilots since filling for CH11 and it has been the last 70 pilots on the list, so please don't be making stuff up! As far as the OP goes, I think what a lot of the pilots here are advocating is that Pinnacle bought Colgan, they got the SLI jacked up and now they are getting rid of Colgan while original Pinnacle guys who got the short end of the stick on the SLI are possibly looking at furlough. What some people on here are saying is that the original Colgan guys should follow the airplanes they brought in.

Regardless of the situation of how this seniority list was formed it is imperative that we not set this precedent. Every airline down the road that comes to a financial difficulty and decides bankruptcy is the answer will attempt to use this in order to benefit them. I know this is a terrible situation, but be careful what you wish for.

I ask again, if you support this ideology then state your name and certificate number. Otherwise you are just another Internet tough guy.

Every man has to fight for what he thinks is right. As a Colgan pilot, I happen to agree with the pinnacle viewpoint here. Although I don't like the lack of solidarity, I can definitely sympathize with the fact that many guys received a bum deal. The furlough should go DOH, however I stand behind our elected ALPA reps 100%. If they choose a route based on the needs of their constituents, I'm for it. My fight is not with my colleagues, but with those who continue to beat this profession down. Management be warned, you stole from us, lied to us, took our livelihoods, and took our futures, but you will not turn me against my friends and brothers. When my furlough number comes up, so be it. I shall blame no honest due paying member for it.

While the Pinnacolgaba SLI was a mess (I overall agree with the list construction, but the quotas were stupid), out of seniority furloughs is both a can of worms you don't want to open as well as something a bankruptcy judge will absolutely not touch. There is no precedent and they don't want to start a new one (usually).
There is no way that DOH should have anything to do with the furloughs, nor will the judge have that happen. The seniority list is not a DOH list, thus furloughs will not go by that. It is a bad bad bad idea to deviate from a legally binding list and a judge will abide by that as well. (for any of you usair date of hire addicts, this means you, too)

The pilots will have little to say about out of seniority furloughs. It will be decided by the bankruptcy court. Our opinions don't really matter whichever way they fall. And as for precedent it's my understanding Eagle already furloughed out of seniority to remove the ATR's from service. I could be mistaken.
This going to be bad internally though.

This i disagree with. The quotas are doing their job and protecting the left seat jobs that the pncl pilots had at the time of the merger. It unfortunately doesn't protect their FO's but at least their captain jobs were protected.
As a CJC pilot I know this is going to severely impact my income, but I feel it's only right. Our career expectations went to liquidation. we will be lucky have a job.
