From Indianapolis Business Journal:
Three airlines operated by Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc. are suing a pilots union over a website they say is damaging their reputation and hindering efforts to hire pilots.
Chautauqua Airlines Inc., Republic Airline Inc. and Shuttle America Inc. want a federal judge to issue a permanent injunction forcing the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 357 to take the website down.
The airlines charge in their lawsuit filed Wednesday that the site, RAH Contract NOW! | Teamsters Local 357, makes several false statements meant to scare away prospective pilots.
Republic Airways and the union have been locked in contentious contract negotiations since 2007, as pilots continue to work without a new agreement.
Pilots complain they haven’t had a pay raise in more than four years, and they want better scheduling and seniority rights.
In December 2010, the union withdrew its negotiating proposals and tentative agreements, and negotiations started over again. The airlines and the union have been in mediation under the oversight of the National Mediation Board since June 2011.
Due to a shortage of pilots, the airlines said in their suit that they’ve recently begun recruiting new ones amid a very competitive market. But the union launched the website in an effort to disrupt the recruiting efforts, the airlines charged.
“As a result of these inaccurate statements,” the airlines said, “Republic has had an increase in the number of pilots who have not called back for interviews and dropped out of the application process.”
A spokeswoman for the union said it could not comment on pending litigation.
The airlines said the website falsely states that in the event of a strike they will fire probationary pilots. The airlines further charge that the union is issuing a veiled threat to prospective pilots by stating on the site that accepting jobs with the airlines would undermine the union’s efforts to disrupt their operations.
“Pilots who read this will reasonably conclude that the union may retaliate against them if they accept employment with plaintiffs,” the airlines’ complaint said.
They said it takes about three months to recruit and train a pilot. If the airlines are unable to recruit enough pilots now, they argued, service will be interrupted.
The airlines charge that the union is violating state and federal labor laws, and also allege that it is committing breach of contract and defamation.
In addition to the injunction, they seek monetary damages.
The three airlines filed the suit in the U.S. District Court Southern District of Indiana in Indianapolis.

I didn't want to say anything but since you brought it up, I don't think it's the NHs we need to edumacate
Or maybe he a thugg and we ain't down enuff to feel him 'na mean
I don't think we even deserve 23 bucks an hour first year pay if we can't even write two paragraphs without horrendous spelling errors. Not bashing on whoever the above poster is. But if I was management and find my employees on forums not being able to spell basic words then I'm pretty sure I can manipulate, lie and con more out of him or her. I've never given ANYONE a hard time about spelling or grammar especially on a web forum... But come on...
Break over. Back to complaining about our own regionals!

Mesaba had the same sort of signing bonus in the late 90s when I was there. If I remember right that was a year or two after I was hired there. I believe that Bedford was the Mesaba CEO then. So this is just a play out of an old playbook for him. We were in contract negotiations there/then as well. Nobody back then *****ed about new hires getting the bonus, though.
If RAH wants to unilaterally raise first officer pay and give out bonuses to new hires, and those who refer them, then I think that's a great thing. I wouldn't count on those things sticking around without being locked in a contract, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
As for new hires not being welcomed at RAH- As has been repeated several times on this thread, that is just a un-true load of crap. Every new hire has been welcomed here. They have just as much right to be here as someone who has been here 20 years. There's a huge difference between opening a new hire's eyes and not welcoming them. If a pilot chooses not to come here it's not because they are not welcome, it's because they got a better offer somewhere else. I garauntee that if first year pay was raised to $40 per flight hour, all pilots got at least 15 days off per month, and there was trip garauntee, then RAH would fill all their classes without any difficulty.
The market has spoken.
The market is a much more powerful force than an obscure union website.

By waiting to interview at RAH, you will help us get a contract sooner than if you came now & took the bonus. The difference in contracts will be a lot more than ~$3000 after taxes with a huge bump in QOL. As a new hire, you'll be on reserve indefinitely. Our current rsv rules are horrific, but a major focus in our negotiations. Do yourselves a favor, do your future co-workers a favor, do your profession a favor- stay away from Republic until we get this collosal mess figured out. It shouldn't be too much longer.
Any new hire I see on the line will be greeted with a smile and maybe a handshake. I'll be crying on the inside however :/

For the prospective new hires do not listen to this 2 percenter. Do yourself a favor and do what is right for you, whether it be Skywest, RAH etc.

I was brought up long before I ever touched an airplane to shake someone's hand when meeting them for the first time. When I got to the airlines I transitioned to hugs, but then I got shot down too many times in the DEN crewroom. I'm not sure what it was, but you F9 bros aren't very friendly. I just wanted some of your cool juice to rub off on me.
For any prospective new hires, this is the kind of attitude you can expect from many Frontier pilots.

Wow! I'll be the first to admit that I'm not half as cool as you Bolo. First because I only have three stripes, unlike your super rad four. Second, because I fly a piddly "commuter jet", unlike your totally bodacious airbus!

As for getting shot down from our pilots, we usually shake hands with strangers and get to know the individuals before we hug them. I would shoot you down every time if you tried to hug me on our first meeting.
Lets get back on the real topic and what YOU said:
"Any new hire I see on the line will be greeted with a smile and maybe a handshake. I'll be crying on the inside however"
Is this how you want to represent your pilot group with potential new hires? I also fully understand what is happening with your contract, so please spare me the "I want to inform the new hire BS! This is purely how you will act to these new hires.
You are truly an embarrassment to your pilot group and the industry.
Please do not try to turn the tables on F9 pilots. These were your words and nobody else. I am calling YOU out Mr. 2percenter!
