If that signing bonus is even true, how is that not a violation of the status quo any less than increasing hourly rates? I am no attorney, but it will be interesting to see how your union responds.
At least you guys know now that you have a nice, long lever to get contract negotiations finished with. The company is obviously VERY concerned about pilot recruitment if they're trying to come up with creative ways to get around actually negotiating a contract between trying to unilaterally increase the hourly wage, pay a signing bonus, and shut down your website. I hope you guys are able to take that lever and place it somewhere useful

Wait, let me get this straight. Republic will give me FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS just for getting hired on and they will let me fly a brand new E175/E190 at $22 to $30 an hour?
brb, getting in line to apply for this job with every other debt-stricken SJS ERAU numb nuts. That will take $5,000 right off my $200,000 student loan!
Not serious, but be prepared for swarms of applicants with this type of mentality. Hope the union puts a stop to this.
And by the way, what the union at Republic has done up to this point has made me proud. Thanks for sticking up and getting the info out.

If you mean you just applied at RAH I hope you are joking or being a wise arse. You have been on the forums enough to know what is going on. I wonder how the RAH guys feel that their ability to get a contract, though showing signs of working, is perhaps being impeded by those who can't wait?

The pilot group is fighting the fight and anyone that goes there right now is assisting management. The situation is rancid and getting worse by the day. The situation is rancid and getting worse by the day. Talk to ANYONE that works there before being "purchased" for $5,000.
pilots should stand together to refuse to be a new hire at RAH till a contract is met. The clear lack of new hires for RAH right now is such huge leverage. Everyone should post on every forum that no one is go to RAH till they get a contract. This is such a great opportunity to unite.

Now if the they're released to strike and the new-hires (or anyone) crosses the picket line, the eff 'em. They're scabs. Until then, new-hires are not to be looked down upon.
Whoever said that this is like a strike is wrong. It is or it isn't. Let's not water down the definitions.

If you choose to come work as a pilot here, you will be welcomed by the existing pilot group, but the Union will have a much harder time if you do not have a good grasp of the way things really are.

I understand where you all are coming from, but being a new-hire does not step on anyone's toes....at least according to the union. If it is, then the union needs to change the statement below.
Now if the they're released to strike and the new-hires (or anyone) crosses the picket line, the eff 'em. They're scabs. Until then, new-hires are not to be looked down upon.
