Why are you leaving brazil? Airlines are hiring down there. go charter or 91 if your English proficient you could land a international jet and make much more than a regional guy in the states. They are out their just have to network. Plus you get a month off for vacation!
I have about 10 months left on my lease here in Rio and the plan is to return to the states after.

Keep in mind that while you may be able to do this, your particular airline may or may not have a commuter clause in their contract. Some airline's contracts DO NOT cover you if you commute internationally, so you would have no protection if you were bumped, the flight(s) was canceled. In that case you could be looking at an unavailable for duty or using a sick call.
In any case, I would look at and/or ask about different companies contractual rules regarding international commuting. That's your best bet.
My two cents.

Thats what ive been doing for the past year or so. The main problem that I have is that im not Brazilian. So I can only fly an airplane with a N tail. there are some down here but these groups are very closed. So you have to know/be friends with somebody that flys one. Its not like in the US when you have the qaulifications and then youre hired. Youve got to know sombeody here.

When I was still at Trans States we had a guy who commuted from Morocco, he was RIC based (back when that was still open) and didn't mind his commute. He'd drop pairings and re-arrange his schedule so he'd only have to do the commute once or twice a month, with minimal time in the crash pad...said he lived like a King in Morocco, but who knows about that. I think it'd be a pretty miserable life to commute internationally, but if that's the only option, go for it...expenses wouldn't be much fun either, paying for a crash pad + your normal rent in Rio, and not being in Rio enough to enjoy it.

Don't forget about departure taxes. I used to commute from MTY (I'm legacy ASA). It added up to almost $1000 my first year here. The commute for me was pretty easy on 1900 reserve, usually was in MTY 17-18 days a month. It got old though.
