With regard to uniforms, is is ok to just buy the leather jacket instead of the suit jacket and overcoat??? I personally think the leather jackets look great and are far more comfortable and functional.

We are desparate to hire FO's not captans. Eagle has the most senior FO's of any regional. We need to hire FO's because we are currently short staffed and need to replace guys who are upgrading. Guys are avoiding Eagle because Oof the upgrade time. But from of of the recent anouncement from the company many of us are optimistic that upgrade are on the horizon.
Keep drink'n that KoolAid....

i'd be assuming that as long as ur company supplies leather jackets as part of their uniform that shouldn't be a problem @ all...i was a lil' upset during uniform fitting when i saw all those leather jackets and later found out they were for go-jet...eh, shiz happens

-you find out your equipment when you get to training... what kind of garbage is that! No WAY im risking flying that ATR for 6 years.
You could bid out of the ATR after your seat lock expires (1 year)
-you cant do an FO to FO move. meaning the only way to get out of the ATR or SAAB is to upgrade to jet CA some time around 2016 haha.
You can't move prop to prop or jet to jet but you can move prop to jet. As a new hire you are better off going to the prop. You relative seniority goes up much faster and the transition from GA to the airline world is much easier.

That part is true. It is payroll deducted over a year so it's not a huge hit.
-upgrade times need i say more
I believe this argument will not hold true for much longer. There has already begun a trickle of movement prior to the anouncement of AA recalls. With AMR increasing profitability there may even be some hope of a new airplane or two.

PSA... You buy full ensemble, (4 shirts, 2 pants, Coat, hat, tie, belt, slides, flight bag & travelpro) but they allow you to payroll deduct it at about $20 a paycheck if you use Cintas. Cintas quality is very low. $380.00 annual reimbursment allowance after 1st year. I'm suprised Eagle covers half. Much, much, more suprised SKYW pays for all.
No, you pay for your uniform at SKYW. Maybe not directly, but with thier pay structure you are paying

Well then it looks like its a matter of choice. If youre looking to fly anything turbine, then Eagle is not such a bad choice, and its stable and is ALPA and has decent benefits. Personally for me I like SKW's growth, and the fact that I pretty much know im going to ORD and will be in the CRJ. all my time is pretty much jet time so i think id be downright dangerous in a prop. youre right about the disadvantages about the pay scale and the non-union thing, so it does come down to what works best for you.

From what I've read here it seems like SKYW tells you even before you start what equipment and what base you will get?? Please confirm.
Any info on what the procedure is at XJT? What is the junior/likely base for new-hire?
