No man should ever use "LOL" "OMG" or any other term originally created by a 13 year old girl.

This does not only apply to shyguy, he is just the one who I happened to quote.

What? Do you have any evidence that the Q400 was profitable standalone? PNCL Airlines Corp. does not disclose earnings results by fleet type. This might be one of the more uneducated posts I've seen on APC in a long time.

Why would Pinnacle Airlines Corp. buy an airline (Colgan) that operated a whole bunch of Q400s if they weren't profitable?

Either the Q400 is operationally profitable, or management performed below amateur level due diligence on Colgan's financials before the purchase.

They didn't buy an airline (colgan) that operated a whole bunch of Q's. They bought an airline that had 0 Q's and then Pinnacle gave them Q's....

Colgan needed a loan, Pinnacle gave it to them. The conditions of the loan were Pinnacle would insert in there management. Nobody read the fine print saying they where going to bankrupt them.

We will get a long term deal out of this, but I think it is going to come down to if Menke can make Ucals long term deal work. Skywest will not be buying them they lost money last Q and are with surejet, plus they arlready turned down an RFP for United because they werent going to get paid enough. Blowjets cannot staff their airline and it will take a while for anyone to start a training program. It is cheaper for us to do it, the only threat I would say is Commutair but I doubt they would get it either they are severely hurting for pilots right now.

Cal/United has options with Colgan for 15 more Q's delivery to begin in September 2012. I have not read or heard if they have been exercised. For some reason, I think March might be the last date they were given to do this.

What ever happens, it will probably come when we least expect it. Like when Pinnacle bought Mesaba and Colgan, or when we got TA1.
