Instead of "i heard" we can't haul much "FALSE" and that a Q400 is the same price as a CRJ 700, not so. Do some research.
Here, I'll start you off... Max ramp weight 65,400 MTOW 65,200 and max landing 62'000lbs. Cruise at 370tas and have been fully loaded with a jump seater and not come close to being over limitations.....

Here ya go: GoJets bought 5 CRJ700 for $154 million. That's $30.8 mill/plane.
India's Spicejet bought 15 Q-400's for $446 million. That's $29.73 mill/plane.
Pretty close to the same cost but I got a feeling you're not going to like my figures.
Don't want to get into a pi$$ing contest because neither of us really know the answer.

It is slower than a CRJ but it uses less fuel. More importantly, it does not fall under scope.

There was no point.
Did you read any of the other post? He ask if I did research. I did. He was challenging my statement that they cost almost the same. So I showed him what I found. Doesn't really make any difference as none of us on this forum have any say what airplanes the companies buy or don't buy.

I am not, but that is the reason why the Q400 is more attractive than a CRJ700 when a regional is looking at aircraft.
I know you would love to start a fight about this issue, but you will never find me on the side of the debate that supports the growth of regionals in any way. I was actually shocked when I found out turboprops don't apply to our scope. I hope that was just something they did not consider when they wrote that scope clause because to me, a Q400 is the same as a CRJ700. Who cares what type of power plant the thing has. A 70 seat aircraft is a 70 seat aircraft.
