Garton (AE) on the 1500hr NPRM

I don't get it. All the evidence points to us (the pilots) having a big upper hand in the coming years. This report by DG pretty much confirms that even he realizes it.
Yet there are some who don't see the connection between voting NO and all this information.

:::Wooww-Wooow-Wooow::: I fly the prop and I am against it, and I haven't flown with a captain on the ATR who supports this thing.

Same formula, even better. Eager beavers who are "special" for hiring, will work for nothing, and be looking to pump in the 16 hour days for that pie in the sky job.
I guarantee, there are lobbyist RIGHT NOW working on formulas to replace those 700 hours with a class on TS avoidance, or how to interview, or whatever else equals business as usual.
...and booming business for the puppy mills. This watered down 1500 crap is a win-win for the folks who actually will make money on it all.

The puppy mills will be screaming at the top of their lungs for "exempt" kids to come in with 700 hours. Mommy and Daddy will take care of little junior just fine, getting that school's 6 figure bill at the end.

When dealing with the puppies, they'll be told they're too expensive and they must make concessions and work for less kibble or else and when fighting Congress to make it more difficult to get more puppies, he'll cry that raising the minimums will mean he'll have to close the pound. My advice to both the puppies and Congress is to just say no to sniffing an airline managers bunghole.
The wiser old dogs in his pound already know the truth of their reality.
One thing I know is that we can stand behind our pay, maybe even expect more, but if over the next 5-10 years we shrink by 50%, the only people who make out well are the top 25% of the company, who remain captains at their current pay plus more. Every FO will be gone, and every Captain who is the bottom half of current Captains will be FO. I know one thing for sure, I will not vote in favor of this situation! This helps a handful, that honestly are the biggest strain on the company economic pilot system.
Your scenario of what will happen is true. Starting in 2014. But before I jump in on the statement in bold would you like to think about it and clarify or change it?

Maybe if some of the regional pilots that are flying RJ's today didn't jump on the regional gig with only 500 hours. Then maybe the pay would go up. I've been instructing on and off for 4 years now. I now make anywhere between 30$-35$ an hour. Sometimes $40 an hour if its a discovery flight.
And it amazes me to know some pilots are flying 50-70 seater airplanes and making less than me. Maybe you should of saw what was going on and stayed put as an instructor instead of believing in false promises of fast upgrades and useless SIC time.

I agree that the pay is ridiculous, but how much time do you recommend people have before flying an RJ? Do you think that they'll pay more just to have a 2000hr FO?
WRT your comment about staying put as a CFI, where would that leave you? What's wrong with SIC time in an RJ? Do you think Delta hire you instead of the RJ FO because you have all that PIC time in a seneca?
