I did half my training 141 the other half 61. Personally I give the nod to great pt. 61 instructors and my own motivation to do good rather than how it was spoon fed to me at 141. Some people learn differently and both produce good and bad pilots. For me though pt. 61 all day long!

Even on reserve at ASA, getting a 1000 turbine probably can't take more than 1.5 to 2 yrs.
delta isnt going to hire someone with 1200tt so they can publish whatever they want. They're just using it as a ploy to get people into the program. After the retirements start up and the wave is in full force then its possible they'll take people with lower time but it wont be anytime in the near future.

Is that supposed to be a good thing? Maybe they'll even offer something like an unpaid internship to sit right seat so they can build experience at a real airline job!

This

Delta is not going to pass up people who are RJ Capt to hire these guys, much less someone else they like. They are all about hiring the right person, hence the interview thats required. Its not like Pinnacle where you dont even meet the person until they are in ground school and find out they are a Dbag.

Candidates in this program will be interviewed by Delta, just like off the street candidates. Program candidates are a better bet because Delta will know their background from day one in the program and be able to ensure they have nothing in their records that may cause problems in the future. Plus they will be mentored by ASA captains to be effective jet crewmembers at ASA and eventually at Delta.

I think a few African American females at ASA who were FO's were picked up at Delta during the last hiring wave and wasn't there a rumor of them not being so great at the whole pilot thing?

Oooooooooo ok, your right. Id much rather hire one of these types than a Capt with internal recs from existing line pilots. So basically what you are saying is Delta's notorious hiring practices are now void? Dont worry I am already looking at enrolling to UND and surrending my certificates to start over under Deltas watchful eye.

You sound jealous and envious of the opportunity afforded these candidates to get the path to their dream job at Delta. I think this will be the way majors hire civilian pilots in the future. Civilian ab-initio university program pilots and military pilots will feed their needs.

That candidate that still has to pay all course fees (I'm guessing $100K+) to pursue a job offer that's extremely narrow in scope, not to mention the $23/hr starting salary. This is the job market equivelelnt of being upside down on your house with 2nd and 3rd mortgages. The extraordinary expense to train oneself to be so narrowly attractive to a potential employer with few tangible skills outside the program is lunacy.

Yea, obviously no real understanding of how these things work. You make it sound like it would only be a couple years in the right seat and then off to Delta it is! Do you have any idea how many current, extremely qualified captains are waiting for Delta to start hiring. This is 100% a marketing tool used by the school to hopefully increase enrollment. As said above, there will be little to NO benefit to those that end up in this program (with regard to a Delta mainline position).
