25 is a very different ball of wax from 200. I agree, it will be interesting to see what happens. And as far CAL and future feed, as long as Kellner is running the show, he will continue to look only at the bottom line. He is an accountant and has a hard time seeing the intangible things such as added value a product like XJT has. Fact is you can fly coast to coast on Continental and never sit on a mainline jet. If CAL is comfortable putting their passengers on a second-tier operator then so be it. But if CHQ has bitten off more than they can chew (they have never operated CRJs before so there are sure to be teething issues and the ones they got have been sitting in the desert for a number of years now) and service or reliability starts to suffer then I sincerely hope CAL figures out what they have lost. But I guess as long as the product is cheaper then Kellner will consider it a successful move, no matter how many passengers they alienate

Nope, haven't forgotten about that. Just haven't heard much about it lately. Latest I heard it was dead in the water. You seem to be so full of facts, maybe you can enlighten those of us less fortunate as to the status of that RFP? And the only reason it is allowed by scope is because they are props. If you remember, XJT used to have a sizeable fleet of ATRs back in the day.

A sign of what? That unions at other carriers are lacking backbones? That they are willing to rollover on issues like scope? I sincerely hope that the union at CAL is willing to continue to hold the line on scope.

I'm not sure you can say that I only post rumors and you are the end-all be-all of factual information about XJT. You post facts as you hear them. If you want to leave no shred of doubt as to the authenticity of your statements you are more than welcome to post sources (and "my buddy who works at XJT" is not a source). I think your ego is starting to show if you think people are making life changing career decisions based on what you present as fact. And to those of you who read these forums and make important career decisions based solely on what you read, you would do well to do your own research and take what is said anonymously by those here with a large handful of salt.

I understand, I think we've posted back and forth before about how you're a pessimist so that you are never disappointed, right? Thats cool if thats who you are. I guess if you just assume your girlfriend is cheating on you or that your dog is gonna get hit by a bus, it makes life that much more bearable when it does happen, right? Seems like a sh!tty way to go through life, but hey, were all free to live as we choose right? So party on brother, party on.

I've flown with a few. Seems like a lot of the guys who were around for a couple years before 9/11 and then got stuck during the 4-5 years before the majors started hiring again are just going to stay put. Had a guy show me the numbers he had calculated based on his situation and it would have taken something like 12 years at a major before he broke even with where he was at. That didn't take into account missed birthdays and little league games and holidays that are worth more than money. It was pretty interesting actually seeing it on paper like that.

I've seen those numbers too. My second year CAL FO pay (756) is the same as my nine year XJT CA pay, so I don't believe it. Plus, I'm 150 numbers from 737 Captain and $138/hour. I think the guys who turned down CAL are fools. Holidays and birthdays? I have not missed any. I had 4 days off on Thanksgiving and Christmas as a new hire! But we each have to make our own choices. I get the days off I want. I'm on a 10 day off stretch now that I bid on PBS. Next month I have vacation. I have a better schedule and more days off than at XJT and I was number 14 in EWR on the RJ! I'm about 350 in EWR on the 756. It one thing to be a lifer if you can't get out, but to turn down a job at a major- that's just wrong.

I got the above information from the 2005 annual report XJT put out, contained in the "Investor Kit" they have on their web site. FYI.

Go where you want to go and don't worry about what any of these people say. They don't live YOUR LIFE and they don't know what you want. If you want more opportunities for east coast bases then CHQ can provide more than XJT. If you want better work rules, go to XJT. I have many friend who are at CHQ and we have agreed XJT has better work rules. I was in the same dilemma( i don't know if I spelled that right) and I chose XJT. I don't regret it. People can argue for years about how CHQ is better than XJT and XJT is over. The truth is nobody know anything, not even their neighbor's best friend's second cousin's nephew who flies for either of them. Do whats best for YOU. The most important thing to remember in this industry is YOU CAN NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN'T CONTROL!!!!! If you can't handle that then choose a different career before its too late.
