The expectation from many people I have spoken to is that the upgrade time will be between 2 and 3 years in about 2 or 3 years, dependent on what happens at the Majors, as well as what happens internally here with respect to the merger.

Good luck!

Thank you. That's about what I figured. There are 2-3 regionals that I have my eyes and have followed their upgrade times since joining APC.....especially ASA.

I've done so backcasting as well, however remained mindful of what the industry was like during that time period.

And your are absolutely right in terms of me being a student pilot at this juncture. Want to have a plan in place if in fact things do move forward.

Yesterday i went to a seminar about ASA, it went very well. I really like there benefits, also the pay isn't terrible. An ASA pilot talked to me about all the great travel benifits she gets with delta, it sounds amazing. My question is, are all regionals like this? My previous flight instructer always talked about how he hates the airlines, he works for Mesaba flying a saab 340.

Well can we all admit that Tomatos are good?

Seriously man, please hear me out. If someone that represents a certain airline is telling you things and those things seem attractive, use your best judgment. This person has everything to gain by "stretching" the truth. Take the picture that she has painted for you and picture it in black and white with runs in the paint, rips in the canvass, a portion that is unfinished and many signatures scratched out along the bottom.

One day you will remember some guy on a forum telling you something that seemed totally off but it will all make sense down the road. Just be careful of what they tell you what to expect.

I'm sure she left out the part about your future employer lobbying the FAA against protecting passengers and pilots against fatigue. They always forget that part for some reason. Weird..........

And flight benefits. Anyone here can tell you that flight benefits are well.....................

I'll let them finish that.

ab81:

Re-read APC's page on ASA. Amazing that the info on 401K has been there all time, however, just paying attention to it since things are getting a little closer. You may wanna disregard that question in my PM.....but just to be clear though....they don't contribute to 401K until year 10?

Flight benefits are awesome, especially if you're single when you use them smartly. If you have a family of 3+ and you're traveling together, flight benefits are a nightmare waiting to happen.
