That's nobody's fault except the pilot that accepts that wage. What's your point?

The van driver at the hotel....most of the time. If I have it to give, then he has it.

I guess you can ask the same question about the van driver.. It's his own fault for working that low paying job...

Continental Express, ATR. This wasn't recent though. It was the '90's.

What cost $12000 in 1990 would cost $19760.30 in 2010.

Add in soaring healthcare costs and it's even with first year pay now.

I Do NOT HAVE to use the the waiter, barber, pizza guy, bartender and skycap.
As a matter of fact I don't use them, except for the waiter, and i do tip them. Wait staff are paid below min wage because their wages are based on tips. Van drivers are typically regular hotel staff with other duties. they're paid at least min wage.

It's ridiculous to tip someone to pick your bag up off the street and put it in a van. I manage to do pretty well on my own getting my bags in and out of my house, my car and my plane. Think I can get it in a van too.

Anyone else want to nominate this for most pointless thread of the year....just like there are jerks at every company (its inevitable) there are also cheap guys at every company that won't tip. Only pilots could make this thread last this long.....

I'm a first year FO in a CRJ. My pay is so low that we get food stamps. The van drivers can get tips from the Captains. BTW most of them don't tip anyways. Heck the van driver probably makes more than I do.

"I always thought it odd that they couldn't afford a tip yet they all had smartphones, bose headsets, fresh starbucks every leg, oakleys, and so on and so on. Penny smart and pound foolish. Keep trying to justify non tippers but 95% of society knows it's just beause you are cheap and classless. Welcome to the 5% club."

Yep.......... What's best is when the pilot complaining about how broke they are, yet has ALL the above. Gets better, RJ FO goes on second year pay, gets a pretty substantial pay raise as most places. That's a relative term OF COURSE. Possibly on the order of 75% at some places. What do they do? Well they're a big airline pilot now, gotta go by a new car since they're now an RJ FO on second year pay, big balla' ya know. One with a payment eats up most of that additional income. Then they sit around wondering why they're almost as broke as while on first year pay.
