If you think as an AA/AE employee we get to just walk up and list, you're crazy.

I have to list myself and check in, and if it's less than an hour prior I can't even check in. Which means they give away all the seats to the lower standby status people before me.

So yea.

Hahaha, the last time I flew with a CA that told the agent to open the flight back up or he will not leave, the agent opened the flight and put the JSeater on. Then the next week the CA was called to the CPs office and was told if he did thy again he will be terminated. So he doesn't do that anymore.

Quite often our loads people will weight restrict a flight even though we're way under weight so the agent couldn't list any JSeaters even if she wanted to. Happened twice last month, agent told JS its restricted, we found out and tells told its not, by that time the JSeater already left.

I love my company

So, we got AA/AE to change its policy on 1 JS total. Can we get them to change their policy on walk up jumpseating by requiring them to call 24 hours prior or no dice?

yeah whast the deal with that.. that happens to me all the time out of ABQ. I was booted off a flight with prob 10-15 open seats. I know its hot and high there but damn... it was a 700 too. you guys weight restrict way too much.. not your fault I know, its just something that seems to happen on AE all the time. I almost didnt make it the other day.. said it was weight restricted and I prob shouldnt even bother. I just said list me anyway.. they did and off I went a half hour later. Anyway, it just seems odd there are always these weight problems. Do you guys do a final w/b once everyone plus bags are on to try and squeeze a J/S on?

By the time we realize it's not weight restricted the agent will have already closed the flight. See the catch 22? There's a vindictive load planner that over restricts on purpose to deny jumpseaters because crews will not be his friend, yeh it's childish, I know. He has something against pilots.

Do AE pilots still have to pay to sit in the main cabin?

AA gate agents are the worst in the industry, hands down.

Wow, this is all just sad to read. I have never jumpseated with AA/AE assuming the worst but you guys have confirmed it.

In the case of AE, gate agents are at the hands of the operations agent.
