Default Multi Turboprop PIC or Turbojet SIC

I have an opportunity to obtain beach 1900 pic time at the company I work for. Will reaching 1000 hrs pic twin turbine mean that I can make the jump to the right seat of a boeing/airbus (somewhere in this market today or near future) or do I still need to climb the crj/erj ladder? The more opinions I get the better.

Thanks everyone!

First off, YES, we ALL know that it doesn't matter what somebody flew before going to the Legacy/Major/LCC/Freight carrier/Fractional, or wherever else. It's been proven, IT SIMPLY DOESN'T MATTER.

Second, it's a competitive market, and will be for a while. Sadly, jet time will be looked at as more competitive, assuming they are equal. Meaning jet PIC vs. turbo prop PIC. Stuffing a bunch of jet SIC into your log book with no turbine PIC isn't going to help.

Get the turbine PIC FIRST, then try to become a check airman, then do what you wish to add to your resume later.

Take the 1900 gig. We just had 4 people leave my all turboprop company in the last month. Two are going to 757's/777's/or DC10's and the other two are heading to an Airbus. As a few retirements over the next several years or so begin to happen, you'll likely just need the turbine PIC.

I have ZERO jet PIC time but have lots of PIC turboprop. I have worked for two legacies, an LCC and Brown. In today's market if you can fly PIC turbine, rack up the 1000 PIC. Once you have it, especially if you have the opportunity like you do, then explore. If you do go regional route, try not to get stuck in a right seat gig that last a long time (think Eagle).

Oh, and have fun with it too.

Turbine PIC over any SIC. Props or fans can make a difference with some employers but not as much as the PIC.

FYI Eagle has one of the lowest upgrade times at the moment. I think just right around 4 years and it should come down into the 3s by the end of the year.

An airplane is an airplane. SIC is not PIC. Always go for PIC.

my cousin, a 75/76 FO for United(Continental) told me this

3000 sic in an ERJ vs 500 PIC in a Saab....PIC will always win.

his point was even withouth 1000 TPIC, the PIC looks 10X better then the SIC
