I don't get it, how do people stick around a regional for 7 years making 21K a year? I would find it hard to swallow even for one year, considering I currently make more then some regional CAs as a Metro FO

We're not sticking around, we're f'ing stuck. Upgrade wasn't 7 years when most of us started. Now most of us have too much invested just to start over again at another regional. Keep in mind that who ever has a super quick upgrade today might be stagnant next year. It would suck if you bailed from one regional to go to the bottom of another and then the music stops. I've been at XJT for 5.5 years, finally getting real real close to upgrade. I'd love to leave, and I will at the first opportunity, but unfortunately I'm stuck for now. 5500tt with no tpic won't get you very far.

FWIW, my Adjusted Gross Income for the feds:
Year 2: 38 K
Year 3: 43 K
Year 4: 46 K
Year 5 projected: 70 K (lots of IOE displacements and doubletime)

And of course perdiem at $500+ per month. I know people say that it isn't income, but I pack most of my food (more for health than money) and spend $150ish a month, so take that $350 extra and call it whatever you want.

I agree with the sentiment of the above poster (OCCP), however although its been 4+ years and 5000+ TT, my QOL has been great and I've made a decent income for a single guy. Nothing you can do about it once you have your number, so might as well create a life you can enjoy.

THIS. Also just because you have the seniority to upgrade/transition doesn't mean your company will honor it. Work for someone that has a real union and a real contract. Otherwise you too could be bypassed by someone junior!

From how it's explained to me, if you were hired into 9L before the ISL came out you are reserved all the Q spots and a certain amount of Saab slots... since the CRJ fences are down, it gives the colgan guys a remarkable opportunity to either get a fast upgrade or hold a quality FO line... for all those people hired after the ISL, there are no fences, so your upgrade times will probably be consistant with the other regionals at around 5-7 years...

Les Hab,

Obvious serious flame bate with that statement on the Regional forum, with that said, I'll say what everybody's thinking;

Either you are truly green, and naive, or just unbelievable oblivious or you've got the sweetest gig on the right side of a sewer tube.

Plus, I'd take Lakes or CommutAir CA seat any day of the week over Metro FO, no question.

Anyway, back to the focus of the thread you originally started, what's the upgrade time of your super Metro job?
