I love how people are saying Eagle will be gone in a matter of time. With 3000 pilots, & 1700 flights daily how in the world is another regional going to be able to take any of that over in a "surprisingly fast" amount of time? Last time I checked everyone is having the same issues with being short staffed and having problems with finding new hires. Magically tho they will be able to take over Eagles feeds. Right.. I see no change with Eagles flying being farmed out anytime soon.

As you say, carriers are short-staffed and so is Eagle, so that might not mean any furloughs.

It's all ready been announced that the ATR's will be around till 2014, even though they will slowly be parking them from now till then. The thing about parking them right away is that it serves some markets that can't be served by any of the jets. KeyWest for example. The 700 could do it, but the EMJ cant. Well see what happens. I wouldn't complain about being displaced to the jet this fall.

I think Eagle will slowly shrink. It will still be one of the better regionals to work for. I've flown with plenty of pilots that worked for Mesa or Colgan before coming to Eagle. Saying the commute is the #1 thing to consider is naive. Ask someone who has worked at both. Most likely someone starting now won't be stuck there for 10-15 years... like most of us hired in the past decade.... so a quick upgrade is something to consider these days.

I think its safe to say with our new contract (9L, XJ, 9E) that we're one of the better regionals in the industry with pay and work rules. Oh, and upgrades will be much faster than Eagle.

Way to many 50 seaters for dl to even think this statement is true. And far as upgrades go we're coming up on four yrs. Eagle has a lot of pilots flowing to AA so if every thing keeps moving then upgrade at eagle will continue to move, on the other hand the industry can take a hit, and put a stop to that really quick, but your brakes would be put on too. And is mesaba not getting rid of all their 340's?

They're phasing them out through 2012 but we're gettting more Q's. I'm sure we'll have flow into the Q from lost Delta flying or we could pick up additional routes on the US Airways side. There's always a niche for 37 seat Turboprop flying. Especially since we're going to start seeing the 50 seat RJ disappear.
