Talking Bashing Colgan

You know, maybe for some Colgan is a great place to work, maybe becuase I was at a MX base I had such a miserable experience, I dunno. I am done bashing becuase the impression I am apparntly leaving behind is a negative one, when in reality I am actually not cocky, obnoxious or pompous. To those of you that havent had any issues with Colgan thats great, I however have had a few really really crappy experiences. No more bashing of Colgan, strictly positive posts from me

P.S. whats with you guys wanting me to wash out of training, I have a great attitude, very friendly and pretty well educated

Smile haha

haah you are right though Attitude is def 80% of what it takes to get through training. We had one guy at Colgan washout for getting a 68% on the systems test, it sucked man he was an awesome guy but def humbled us quite a bit.

Default PIC... Not important. OK SAAB

Saabaroowski, your right. It does take balls to move from one regional to another, but it takes stupidty to move from right seat right seat at a regional. I cant wait to upgrade and start getting some pic turbine, by that time you should have what, 2 more years to upgrade with 2,000 SIC. Hope thats does you good. Keep living in your dream world telling yourself that there is no rush to get PIC Time. Thats not what FED EX, UPS, Continental are looking for...... They want lots and lots of right seat time. I want to be friends with everybody, but there's people like you that say things just to make themselves fell better. You know what? You tell yourself whatever you want, just dont share it with us.

Thanks

cal DOESNT REQUIRE PIC TURBINE! Silly newhire. Besides I never said PIC turbine isnt important, I chose xjt for QOL Look I am not going to sit here and tell you, or myself that PIC Turbine isnt important, its the MOST IMPORTANT, however Expressjet is someplace I have wanted to go for literally the past 10 years (Continental Express for that matter) I wanted to get on the ATR soooo bad, then the company turned intop XJT thinsg got even better, me want to get on there only grew. I have 10 really close friends over there that love it! Flying out of Newark has been a long long dream, ever since I have been taking the Turnpike to see my grandma, (whos long gone ) Colgan was a good experience the pilots are great and the SAAB was awesome, and the PIC Time in priceless...............however upgrade for my class is probably another year away, I understand that is not along time at all, but QOL and not driving 3 hrs day to fly for 2 just didnt make sense, and too be honest I wasnt thrilled with doing single turns to IAD, or PIT (thats all we ever did), got old ( I know XJT will get old too, I know, I know) Just a note to the Colgan newhires, upgrade is not going to be under two years I don't think, still quick yes, but not the 12 months that some of you are expecting, that being said good luck!

Colgan must be filled with low time guys looking to get some turbine time so they could apply to SKW and others right? Or is management careful about these types getting in?

They try to screen those individuals out, but many applicants lie during the interview process. It is just a matter of whether they can be sniffed out or not.

I also had a regular NetJets commuter out of my base. Colgan had been on a NetJets "no-fly" list, however it was because of Colgan's crappy completion factor and unreliability, NOT dangerous MX issues.

Colgan is a good place to go to get the relatively quick PIC Turbine. Those captains who are OK with buying the 737 type can get on with Southwest. 4 IAH captains recently went there. The captains that I know who went to CAL either knew someone or were women. Same for UPS. Those that don't know anyone usually go to Colganesque majors like Allegiant, Gemini, etc..

If you commute from outside the Northeast I wouldn't advise going to Colgan. You'll be back at a crashpad every night, making zero extra income through per diem, most likely looking at a 2 leg commute, and going to the same 2-3 airports every day. Upgrades are running 18-20 months in the Saab, however those guys upgrading now were hired before the huge hiring boom of May-Dec '05. Maybe enough FOs leave and Colgan gets more flying to bring the upgrade down, maybe not. I left because I hated a 2-3 leg commute, wanted a better QOL, and will make just about the same amount as an RJ FO that a Saab captain in the Northeast does.
