Under SOC, couldn't all United/Cont. flying be moved to ExpressJet. Closing ASA IAD base??
I have no idea, what they can and can't do. I am just super confused why we continue to cancel flights at ASA and not hire. While Express side hires and doesn't cancel any due to lack of crew.
Oh, anyone wanna take a bet the PBS FO Awards will be late again?

yes, I think we should hire. However, xjet might not cx any for crew (doubt it) but I have personally done flights under xjet flight numbers because there was a lack of crew. So it didn't cx because ASA picked it up.

Xjt is definitely still cancelling for lack of crews. We are going on two years of being understaffed and no end in sight. We had 187 fo lines in ewr for july and 180 people bidding... ruh roh. ORD is still drastically understaffed but they have been concentrating their efforts there. We are going on almost 5 months of them offering 200% to pick up open time even though very few people have time off enough to recover from their normal schedule.
All these emails from your management could have been cut and pasted from our management last summer. Last summer even or MEC chairman called us "unprofessional" for calling out sick (the MEC chairman who has since resigned) under pressure from our management. What management(s) dont seem to understand is that crew members evolve as they gain experience in this career. What we were willing to do when we were new hires and extremely excited to have a job is no longer going to fly. Most everyone has been in their seat for 4-5 years and the constant mismanagement, constant reduction in benefits, and the reality that they are making a salary that is far below what they are worth... you want me to miss my kids birthday because you cant staff the airline after two years of being short staffed? So sorry if you dont get your bonus this year Mr Management.
The honeymoon is over and while it is embarrassing to work for a company like this it has now become the status quo at many regionals. We have to compete with the airlines that are continuously hiring because they treat their crews like dog food.

Currently the ASA side is cancelling between 10-15 flts a day due to crew availability. This past weekend there were so many flights canceled due to weather that it actually helped out the company performance. Many of the weather canceled flights would have ended up as crew availability.
I recently spoke to SH about the hiring between the two companies. Why ASA seemed to be hiring less than XJT. His reply: The reason for the difference in hiring between sides has to do with XJT having about 17 aircraft that were supposed to be pulled from the system. The contracts were extended but the staffing wasn't held up enough to handle the aircraft. They were letting people leave with the idea that it would balance it self out when those aircraft were pulled from UX. Now they have to hire more to compensate for that.
Just a little info. Take it for what it's worth.
