From all that you've said, I couldn't agree more on this statement. Our ALPA reps are usless! What a waste of money!

The biggest problem with the email is the first sentence of the last paragraph.
"It doesn’t matter how we got here...."
I never want to hear a management type say the mistakes of the past don't matter. How do you fix a problem if you don't know what caused it?
If the point of that email was to "inspire" us to do a better job, we have a serious problem.

Another good point that some of you brought up was crew utilization. I don't understand their strategy either. There are way too many pilots sitting around doing nothing when they could be flying. Not saying they should fly us to death, but at least enough so the flying gets covered. I just don't get why they don't understand this. Who ever the person is making these decisions needs to go.
Maybe after the merger process is complete, management can get their heads back in the game and fix this airline. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Eagle is going through similar pains. Remember when management threatens outsourcing to get concessions, all regionals are probably understaffed. And it will only get worse as the majors start to hire. Hopefully regional pilots will start to get the compensation that we deserve. Good Luck to you all. As Pres. Clinton said, "I feel your pain."

I'm not sure how anyone could interpret that email as anything other than someone from management venting and displacing their frustration on no other than............. The pilot group. Why not take a crap on the pilot group when times get tough? After all we are just a bunch of pushovers and an easy way to cut cost.....eh hem. Sorry, those were the pilot groups of the past. We have hit rock bottom and I think management is in a bind now that their easiest way of cutting costs is no longer an option.
Pilots are not inherently lazy, as much as management would like to believe. However, what they want is no longer as valuable as it used to be. It's time they step up to the plate and make sacrifices as well.
I have lost a little bit of respect for the author of that email. I have a feeling that this email will only have an adverse effect our operation.

As much as management across many regionals have unfairly passed the blame onto the workforce, I think the flying public has a fair amount of blame to be shouldered.
The flying public are the ones making ticket purchashing decisions based on who is two bucks cheaper on priceline. Then they turn around and act shocked that the cheapo bargain tickets bought them a ride that didn't meet their high standards. I did like the 'Flying Cheap' documentary, but one glaring omission in my opinion, was that the public was not chastised for their empty-headed purchasing decisions.
