Come on saab say something constructive - what should that second year Captain make? Forget about that fact that they are going to try to start this airline with furloughed NW pilots at a lower rate (that's another post).
$76k? $86? What about the fo's?

Who says that furloughed NWA guys are going to get first shot? I'd say that there are probably some former IDE guys that would potentially be gunning for spots too... seeing that it is THEIR certificate that's being used and the company was never liquidated under CH7.

Saab, couldn't agree with you more. The race is on to see who can get by with the cheapest crew force. Mesa has owned this crown for years, but competition is looming, and for many years to come pilots will jump at the opportunity to work for nothing. It is a sad state in our industry.

The bright side is they ( whoever they are) are predicting a pilot shortage in 10 years. Maybe there is some hope.....just maybe.

The real story........Furloughed NWA guys will get first crack at Comapss (be aware NWA went through 140 recall notices to fill a class of 25 for Oct training). Furloughed NWA pilots will start out for pay purposes as a 2nd yr Capt. F/O's 4th yr f/o pay. Still have approx 650 on furlough, many not coming back (dont blame them). If you are a new hire to NWa (I.E. - Compass and not a furloughee), you get stuck with a 12 month training contract where you cant leave or you pay NWA $12k. Dont think that has ever held up in court though.

This makes no sense. Independece guys are not going to get first crack. There contract was with the company that held "that" certificate, not the certificate.

Don't off the street new hires get flowup too? Or is that just for furloughed peeps? That's a pretty big carrot to dangle.

Also, I would think if you went there as soon as they opened their doors, you'd be a CA pretty quickly. That being said, after seeing how NWA has treated their employees the last few years I personally can't ever see myself working under them.

Why does it make no sense? The company was sold mostly whole/intact. The buildings in DC (hangar and HDQ) that IDE used are currently being used by compass.

Most of the operational management at Compass is former IDE management. (DO, DMX, CP, & several instructors from what I hear, just to name a few.) IMO, there's definitely some legal grey area, especially since the bankruptcy hasn't resulted in total liquidation of assets and recently had an infusion of cash (in the form of a $95M+ payment from a UAL bankruptcy settlement)

Not that I'm holding my breath (or would even go back to the airline if I was recalled), but if a lawsuit is filed on behalf of the IDE pilots, I think it could definitely throw a wrench into the works. I would happily participate on the principle alone (as would many other former IDE pilots).

I do....The sh$tty TA that was recently approved says it too! Who gives a rats patoot about Independence Air now. It no longer has a certificate. They went bye-bye, gone, kaput...just like Peoples Express and Braniff just to name a few. "Their certificate" has the name Compass Airlines on it now. And Compass happens to be a NWA Inc. company. Yes, Compass pilots will have NWA alpa senority #'s.

FlyerJosh, did you recieve a letter stating you were furloughed or terminated? Depending on your answer, you could be right. I still don't see it your way, based on the info I have read.
