Career killing regionals

The problem is that it will take perhaps 5 to 8 years to upgrade in a turboprop at Horizon while your peers at other airlines have been CRJ captains for years. 5 to the Dash. They will be gone to the majors perhaps five years or more before the Horizon guy gets a chance. Horizon Air is a black hole that sucks in pilot careers and that is where the majority stays. Someone once excitedly told me that "their flight instructor just got hired by Horizon". My response was that mine were there too and that a decade and a half years later they were still there.

I'm not sure it's fair to pin an airline as a career killer. It depends how you define the term.
Sure some airlines, particularly the smaller commuters, push pilots to bend rules. Get caught and violated, and that's a career killer. That means no airline job.
To say a Horizon is a career killer is unfair. Horizon is a fine career if that's where you want to be. Legacy airlines aren't for everyone, myself included. Sometimes maintaining seniority and days off is more important than money.
Everyone loves to hate mesa/gojets/shaniqua, etc. They arent exactly career killers if they get you what you need to move on. Maybe those that criticize are jealous.

My suggestion to everyone is go fly your plane. At the end of the day, go to your family, friends or whatever you do on your off time. Look, now you people have me trying to impose my thoughts on you. Gosh-gone-darnit.

You really need to stop your rant of bull that you know nothing about. The upgrade is 7 years to the CRJ700 where you make $87 an hour. The fact is we are one of the HIGHEST paid pilots out there. We have a strong contract that is not in jeopardy. We are profitable. This week our new hire class include people from Indy air, Mesaba, Pinnacle and ComAir. You have NO IDEA what is going on here. You Quit. Suck it up and keep pushing that pencil.
You're wasting your pixels. He doesn't listen to facts which inconveniently contradict his misinformation. Shucks, he could be our next president!

Frontier seems to have forgotten what the "lowest bidder" did to them the last time around. Carma indeed.
