The answer is no. They will have first dibbs on a left seat slot if and when one opens up. Pay protection, not from this company.
Fact is that SKW will most likely get all of the 700/900 flying out of Atlanta. The company has proven that it is more important to make a point than to make decisions on the economics of the sitiuation. Truly who cares. This whole thing for me has made me get those resumes out there. I have been to lazy and now I am quite motivated.
There will be plenty of hiring. After talking to a lot of guys and gals yestarday in the crew lounge, most people are starting to say anywhere but here. I think that there will be a lot more that 15 pilots leaving a month.

Are you kidding? Maybe your talking about ASA. SW wouldn't be around today if this were true.

SW is very good about making "economic decisions". Of course they are for shareholder benifit, but none the less...

ACL, JA is a pure business. He has made it clear that he will do what ever it takes to keep SKW Inc. making money. With that said I really don't see SKW flying into ATL any time soon. Don't forget that DL tells SKW Inc. where and when to deploy a/c. SKW Inc. will then decide which side will actually do the flying. It would not be cost effective to open a SKW base in ATL for the same reasons that we are leaving SLC. It made good business sense to leave the CR7s in SLC than have our guys DH or run 4 days through SLC to simply keep the a/c under the ASA banner.
For this and contract reasons w/ UAL I can see the LAX base growing. I also see SKW Inc being awarded more flying from the DCI RFP and ASA flying the bulk of it.

Quite true. JA is all business and ASA cannot get out of its own way. If I were in charge of this, I would not want ASA to operate more than contractually necessrary. Yes, part of it is ATL. There is no getting around it. I am sure they are pulling their hair out over it in UT.
You have to ask yourself a few questions. The second half of those 900 orders were to be announced in early AUG. Yes, it can be delayed, but that flying has to start in ATL by FEB/MAR at the latest because of where those destinations are. Second, Why not SKW, they have bases all over the country and from what I have been told they do not pay for the move. I could be wrong. Either way their costs will be small.
We all ask what it going on? I know we will be last to know. All I am saying is do not be too shocked when a SKW announcement is made about ATL. My take is let them see if they can fix the mess. We all know that their numbers will look like ours out here.

I don't believe that SKW will be in ATL for a few reasons. Mgmnt already has a good idea of what it will cost ASA to fly the CR7/9 once the contract is done. They also know that they will have to pay our SKW brothers close to if not more than that once our deal is done or risk ALPA on property which JA doesn't want.

As far as performance out of ATL, DL numbers aren't much better than ours on the domestic side. 80% of our delays are easily the result of ATL volume and 20% ASA ops. SLC and CVG don't nearly have the volume/wx delays as the ATL and comparing the two are apples and oranges. Improvements have been made to reduce parking delays that I hope will continue.
