BTW, nice asinine pro-union comment there...If he DID have a substance problem, SKW actually has a very sincere program for that, but like ANY intervention program at ANY airline you have to get involved with it BEFORE you are dragged out of an airliner cockpit in handcuffs. ANY airline in the world would fire his @ss immediately, and would laugh in ALPAs face if they even suggested any sort of disciplinary review or recourse. Word is he blew a .07-.08...are you really going to tell me that the union would have gotten him out of jail and back on the job???

Rick, I heard he blew .02 below the limit but a SKyW limit? We should all quit guessing and wait for the facts to come out. It's a guys whole career/life we are guessing about.

Leo, You assume he drank before a flight? Unlikely, probably, night before thing.... Then call him a dumbass? I don't think you have the right. After you log a few thousand hours and get drafted 3 times in a month, miss a friends wedding, have a relationship crumble all because of your job, see if you don't go out for a cocktail one night and have just one to many.
I can tell you that I'm not throwing any stones.

Wonder how the mormon elders (meaning SkyWest management) reacted to this one...

He will apparently be fired soon and that the .07 is accurate.

So true, their hypocrites. SKW policy is 8 hours and .02 which is half of the legal limit. Most of the time SKW fires thoughts who post a .02 but it is up to the discretion of MGNT. His record will be brought under serious review.
For the rest of you, give it a rest! It's easy to point your finger until your the one their point at. Those who say they are incapable of such a mistake are hypocrites. If he was under the legal limit then he didn't break the law. If he was drinking before the flight he would have blown higher.

This particular case has nothing to do with the .02 limit, somebody is talking out their @ss. SKW does have a .02 limit, but their policy is to remove you from duty until you sober up, not automatically fire you at that limit (you could still get fired if they found out you were drinking 5 hours prior to show or something). The firing limit is .04 like everywhere else. They have a pretty liberal 8 hour limit, many or most other airlines are 12.

The .07 is not speculation. I would certainly never throw out a hard number unless I had the real scoop on it, and I did not get that info from the media.

Just went thru FSD and TSA was all over us like flies.

It's crazy to be anywhere near an airport in uniform with booze on your breath.

The 8 hour rule is just a rule of thumb. Everyone's body metabolizes alcohol differently. Typically people think a 7am departure means they can stop drinking 9-10pm the night before. This isn't true. Sometimes ya need a full day to rid your body of the booze. (expecially if you really tied one on.)

I don't understand how a pilot that knows his sched in advance would get
sh!tt faced the night before a flight they knew about for a month.

People need to wise up and be more responsible. They can always call in sick or not get blitzed the night before a flight.

How badly do these guys stink to get tagged like that? I don't get anywhere near close enough to the TSA's finest...
