I'm sure I missed something, but would this mean they'd like to change everything to the CRJ's? How long until they do away with all the Saabs, and how would that affect hiring/training for Mesaba and/or Colgan?

Maybe CRJ900s, maybe E175's, maybe buy a few used MD88's and take back some scope... who knows... the one fact of all this is Delta doesn't want turboprops and they don't want 50-seaters... all the CRJ200s and ERJs will be gone within the decade... if you don't believe me, I refer you to my former airline...

Dunno if anybody at Delta has looked at the Q400 but its about as far from a traditional turboprop as you can get and still have the fans scare your passengers. I hope mainline protects their scope but I wouldn't be surprised to see newer tprops flying under the DCI banner.

I just talked to a good buddy in the training department at DAL, and he said with Oil being high...no hiring, and parking airplanes will continue...on top of the Diesel 9's, the next to go will be 2 744's after summer flying...

If they delay hiring to long they will be in a position of not being able to train pilots quick enough once retirements start up.

Don't forget about all of the Pinnacle 200's flying for DCI that are at the top of the chopping block. Delta can't get rid of those things fast enough.
