If you want it, there is a pretty good chance of getting CRW. Seems to be a vacancy on just about every bid we have had in the last year for upgrades. I was based there for 18 months, and I liked it. Good flying, and you are away from most of the drama going on in the rest of the system. Typically, they don't mess with your schedule, mostly day trips and if you are able to bid a full month of DCA flying it just doesn't get any better than that....EASY. If you really like the outdoors, West Virginia is a great state for that. Relatively inexpensive and Charleston pretty much has everything that any city it's size is going to have. Decent commuting possibilities and many locales well within 3 hours drive for recreation, shopping, etc...

I was in CRW for a while too, the crews are awesome, and the DCA flying was a blast. As far as places to live, Charlie west is alright. Not my particular cup of tea, but not bad if you're flexible and don't much mind where you end up. It is cheap, which helps quite a bit. When I was there it went from nothing but day trips one month, to a mix of day trips, one two-day trip and two day trips, to two, two-day drips to make a 4 day schedule. Occasionally overnights seem to get thrown their way, they usually seem to get some good ones. Other months it was CRW-IAD and back or CRW-DCA and back all day, all month. Holding it right out of training? Probably will depend on the vacancies when you go through but I wouldn't be shocked if you could, but that doesn't mean you will.

For anyone interested, we had 19 show to the 4/11 class today. As of now (and they're telling us this isn't final until tomorrow), 14 Q, 5 Saab. 3 of the Saab guys are me and two guys who have posted pretty extensively in this thread. Won't know bases for probably 3 weeks they say, but apparently the last Saab class went north so word has it IAH is a decent possibility. And also heard there HAVE been new hires sent to Houston on the Q right out of training apparently. BOS will, we're told, be a fairly senior Saab base when it opens.
