Thumbs up From the XJT Crackpipe....Michael Roberts

Time to help out if you'd like

Folks,

We've been dealing with a lot due to the TSA and this governments handling of pilots and security. One of our own, Michael Roberts started this. He stood up for what he believed in. What a lot of us believe in. He stood by his convictions and did what he though was the right thing for this profession and this country. Many of us, myself included, haven't had the same courage to stand up. As a result Michael is on unpaid leave. Like many of us he has a family. I didn't have the courage to stand up like he did but I'd like to help him give his family a nice Holiday season. I'm not asking for a debate on whether he's handling it appropriately or if he could do it better. What I am asking is that whomever else agrees with me to pony up a couple bucks to help ease the stress I'm sure he's feeling some stress this Holiday season. If you can spare anything, 20 bucks, 10 bucks, whatever, please consider giving a little to Michael and his family. I think most people know and trust me and I'll open my account up to anyone to prove that anything donated goes directly to him. I'm going to start it off by giving $50. Anyone else who would like to give a couple bucks please send it to my pay-pal account. My email is [email protected]. Thank you.

Oh and feel free to pass on any fees to me and I'll take care of those as well. Thanks to the guys who've already kicked in!

Thank you Mr. Roberts, my donation is on the way. And may I say Welcome to ASA, I'm proud we are now on the same team. Now how do we get you back online?
And to the rest of my ASA brothers and sisters lets pony up to support the man that got the ball rolling to finally get Crewpass online.

Just donated. This is some of the best money I've ever spent.

In case you haven't seen Michael on the news, here's an interview on Fox - it starts a little ways in on the link.

Commercial Pilot Sues TSA, DHS - Fox News Video - FoxNews.com

Regardless of your personal feelings on what he did, we have him to at least partially thank for getting Crewpass moving along instead of being stalled in government red tape.

We all have a million monetary reasons not to help this guy out, but he's managed to take a stand on an issue that affects us all, and get action on it, which is something the union hasn't been able to do for years. And what a way to welcome him into the ASA family.

Hope you and your family have a great holiday season Michael, and thanks for having the guts to stand up for your beliefs, while risking job security to do it.

Default Check In The Mail

Steve,

Check's in the mail. I'm fortunately retired and don't have to go to the airport anymore, but this crap needs to stop. Thanks for running with this.

Wow, what a great cause. I followed Mr. Roberts story the day he published it on the XJT forum. It seemed to me many pilot's initially considered his brave stance to be an ill-advised career ending decision, with no chance in actually changing TSA procedures. However, this past month his bravery and sacrifice started a debate that has littered the news regarding the use of these scanners. We don't know the final outcome of what will come of this, but we can be assured he laid the foundation for the future of CrewPass and TSA Policies.

As a poor college student, I will donate the little bit I receive for selling my textbooks at the end of the quarter.

Thanks Mr. Roberts, you're a true American.

A big cheers to you this holiday season.

A Humbling Response from Mr. Roberts himself from the XJT Crackpipe:

"Holy crap, guys! Been away from the pipe for a while and I just found this thread. Now I'm having a hard time typing 'cause my hands are trembling. Seriously - thank you all. Just saying that doesn't even begin to communicate my internal response right now. I am humbled - like down on my face on the floor humbled.

I can tell you this - I'm not going to stop short of the objectives I've been laying out there since the beginning. I'll spend the rest of my life doing this if it means my daughters and my boys can live free and raise my grandchildren in peace in a just society. And you are all very much a part of the effort, as is every other regular American citizen currently under the assault of the overreaching arm of the state. We're all going to leave something to those who come after us, both individually and as a nation.

When I did what I did on Oct. 15 I pretty much expected it to get about as much attention (basically none) as the letter some of us sent to the company back in August when we told management what we thought of the new policies. I really wasn't trying to change anything back then - I just knew I couldn't conscientiously comply with TSA's BS. But with your encouragement and support you guys have set me up to go to war with these traitors and you've given me an army to do it with - which seems to consist of pretty much the entire American public!

This thing isn't about me and it never really was. Let's never allow it to become centralized, organized, or institutionalized because then it can be controlled and bastardized and before you know it, the state itself will take it over somehow and use it to add another layer to the bureaucratic cake. (Pretty good preaching for a white guy, huh?) All I'm saying is please guard your own sector and protect your people because what it's really going to take is a few million one-man revolutions - not one big movement or political lobby or boycott or whatever. I'm already blown away by the way a lot of you have showed up in the past month. Bravo!

And Steve, thank you, sir. Words rarely fail me, as you all know, but you got me this time. My heart is pounding in my chest as I write, and I'm just going to have to stop now 'cause I don't know how to bundle up my thoughts and feelings and deliver them here. "

I figure since the old man donated to the CAL furloughees he'll have no problem donating for this also when he gets back, so I,ll let him know about this.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving

Thumbs up From Steve McNight...

I can't thank you guys enough. Heck, I thought we just get a few bucks together to make sure he had a nice holiday. The outpouring of support from everyone....FA's MX, DX and FI's has been increadible. Almost 200 people. Many many many people giving 3 digits! I'm going to shut down the paypal on wed morning and transfer the amount to his account in time for Thanksgiving. I won't go into the totals on here but email me if you'd like. Thank you all again.

Oh, and if there is anyone on APC I don't log in over there so can you post this there as well....thanks.
......I just spoke with Michael and while on the phone did a paypal transfer to his account. Funny, then I got a call from Paypal to confirm the large transaction....(hahahahaha.big brother watching) Anyway, he was very moved by the generosity of his coworkers in the industry. I also composed a letter on behalf of us and emailed it to him. Thank you all who responded with gifts and with kind words of encouragement. Below is the letter. Also, from here on out please don't send ME (mcknight) any more money. If you missed out and would like to help Michael there is a "donate" link on www.fedupflyers.org and I'm sure he would be greatful for any help that comes his way. Thank you all again.
