Pinnacle hiring freeze

The rumor mill in Elvis Land says that Northwest has a bunch of replacement FA's ready to go in the event of a strike, ala the mechanics last year.
If I had to bet, I'd say that Pinnacle will keep the flying for Northwest. Of course, since Mesaba is working at running all of its employees off, who knows who will win this race to the bottom.

Ya there are some scab FA's but from what I have heard there are only about 2000 of them compared to 9000 NWA FA's.... bottom line good luck getting 2000 to do the work of 9000.... On a side note I was talking to a mainline CA the other day who was telling me that NWA was getting in trouble with the state dept. / immigrations since the scab FA's were being brought in to the country on work visas being sponsored by NWA and once they were inside the US the were going AWOL.... Basically thanks for the free ride into the country catch ya later....

They may not need to replace all 9,000. The talk in the media is the FA's are going to do the CHAOS thing. So, based on my (limited) understanding of what that means, the company may just put a group at each base and fill in as needed.
I had to cringe when I read what you said about the scab FA's disappearing into the woodwork....

And on another tangent unrelated to the above comment, I think no regional job is necessarily secure and it will always be a challenge to be a junior pilot on reserve. The pilots I met during the interview were all professional and friendly. Regionals tend to all have labor/managment issues and in the end it comes down to you and your fellow pilots attitude and your willingness to stick together and stand your ground. Pinnacle has this and all those I know who actually work there would disagree with those on this board who dog the company.

Hello:
I was origionally going to interview late Aug, 06. About a week before the interview insted of me getting an e-mail with my e-ticket information was sent we are full for August and I needed to pick dates for Sept. I chose the first (Sept 7). Now I am confirmed on that one and will see what happens. I'll be flying out from (LAX-Los Angeles, CA) on Sept. 6 staying at the Holiday-Inn Select. The company rate is $68.00 includes coupon for breakfast if your a priority club member I am gold member. Have already interviewed since June 20 with (Mesa, Eagle and XJT) sad to say they have not offered me anything
My logbook stats are: 1233 TT and 124 MEL. E-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks,
The Dude

I think most people on this board (myself included) who rag on Pinnacle are ragging on Pinnacle the AIRLINE, not Pinnacle the PILOT GROUP. Big difference. I have several friends at Pinnacle and I have had many Pinnacle guys on the jumpseat, they are all great guys and I would never want to see any of them go through a furlough or liquidation at their company. But lets call a spade a spade: Pinnacle the AIRLINE is a poorly run company. Northwest Airlines the COMPANY is a cancer on the industry. That said, I still have the utmost respect for Pinnacle the PILOT GROUP and Northwest the PILOT GROUP.
Watch out at the Holiday Inn-Select. It's not the best hotel in town- and the "Memphis Belle Grill" is super expensive beyond belief. PM me if you're in town. we should be finishing ground by that day.

You make an excellent point here. The piot group at Pinnacle is an awesome bunch of people. Very easy going and level headed- I just wish management would be the same. But like any other airline, the guys upstairs have that golden parachute to protect, which means screwing the little guy.
