CNN speaks out against the regionals and such

now i may be way off based, but as far as regional pilots not being held to the same standard as mainline pilots dont we all take the same check ride and perform the same manuvers/tasks. while we might not have the same prior expierence we all do the same check ride.

CNN, gotta love em.
It was breaking news last week when that 747 in an air show on a pre determined route approved by the FAA was "too close" to the golden gate bridge. It was just awesome watching them "analyze" the video of said 747.
I also think CNN had someone say it may have been carb ice that caused the buffalo crash.
FOX news has hotter hosts anyway.

Well, yes you are but you are also more than you think, just like the republic guy/gal. What makesyou think that once tagged as a bad pilot you will be hired at mainlne.

He/She didn't specifically state that he/she personally would be hired, just that it would be good to get hiring going at mainline, instead of more regional jobs. I am in full agreement, if it means I lose my job this year and every single route I use to fly is now flown by mainline, I am all for it. Why fight what is good for the pilots in this business?

Yes, however, if labeling you and every other pilot at republic would put those 175's on the airways certificate then I have to you agree you suck. It would also mean that I sucked as a pilot when I flew for republic. But since I quit five months ago I'm a good pilot again.
ALPA is perpetuating this stereotype that regional pilots suck, and may even be feeding misinformation to these news outlets since it always appears to be the same story line (even Reader's digest?!!!). This is for their self serving goal of appeasing their Whale dues contributors who want RJs to go away, and thus keeping it a viable business since they're screwed if another one quits the union. ALPA plays both sides of the fence, telling the mainlines they're going to make RJs go away and telling regionals they're going to protect their interests. When will we wake up and defeat this double standard?

I was at the airport watching TV when Sully landed on the Hudson. On one news channel, I think FOX, within a half hour of the accident the reporter asked their in-house "Aviation Expert" why an airliner would be flying that low. The expert, who had proudly told the reporter how he was a private pilot, explained that more than likely the US Air jet had just taken off from LGA and needed to remain clear of the Bravo airspace, so he was probably skirting under one of the shelves.
Thank you for making me smile at 5am....it takes lots.
