It's an internet forum. Not a spelling/grammar contest.

Itnrestnigly eonugh tihs is sitll lgebile. man up and stop pointing out meaningless mistakes in an informal atmosphere.

see ya on 121.5, reminding people that they're "en guarde"
Use the search feature and you'll see that when ever spelling comes up, two distinct camps emerge. One claims that regardless of it being an internet forum, people will judge you on how you spell and if you cant spell properly you have no purpose operating an aircraft. The other argues: It's the internet, get over it.

Why can people not spell otorhinolaryngological either?

I thought it was very interesting that there wasn't a single pilot interviewed on the show. I agree with one of the posters above... they probably couldn't find one with something good to say!

The funny part is, in a media where the written word is the primary means of communication, spelling matters.

Just like you wouldn't grunt and point to get your concept across on the telephone.

When did it become vogue to not care about actually being able to communicate effectively?

If you've ever watched any other episodes, almost all of the CEO's shed a tear when they listen to the stories of their employees of how hard they're working to make ends meet. I did not see BB shed even one tear of sadness or joy with the employees. The show did a great job trying to fluff him up, but anyone can look right through that and see how insincere he is.
